About this deal

All heller 1/72 models and scale models are manufactured in Trun, France. With a catalog that counts more than 300 models, Heller is known for its miniature models. Moreover, its line is suitable for beginners as well as modeling professionals around the world. What types of Heller models are there? Airfix's (and Heller's - soon-to-be released with Air France markings) new Concorde kit provides a great addition to the small but significant line of 1/72 scale airliner kits. It's molded in white, clear, silver, and dark metallic-gray styrene, and has vinyl tires. The kit comes with paint brushes, small plastic "tinlets" of acrylic paint, glue, and Clearfix brand liquid window material. The French company produces plastic and acrylic models of different scales. Specifically, the scales are 1/400, 1/125, 1/72 and 1/35. This kit has a reputation as a ‘beast’ of a build with poor fit, warping, inaccuracies and major steps in the joints among the list of difficulties faced, not one for the inexperienced it seems and perhaps why many kits languish in the stash for so long. The Heller brand is renowned for its legendary models, from small aircraft to giant sailboats. It has been on the market since 1957. All you need to know about Heller Who is the manufacturer Heller?

It is a ready-to-be-assembled model of the legendary Concorde. Paint, brush and glue are provided. This aircraft beats all altitude records, 21,000 meters. France and England each designed a supersonic aircraft in 1956. The two projects merged in 1962 and the first prototype was released in 1967. Take care assembling the engine pods as all the parts are handed. Since 1957, the Heller brand has made a name for itself in the RC modeling sector thanks to its quality models. Faced with precursors such as Airfix in the 50s, the company Heller stands out and positions itself as a competitor in the market. The scope, presentation, and finish of its models ensure a place of choice in front of others. What are the specialties of the manufacturer Heller? Clear parts are reasonable clarity but on this sprue is the drooping nose mechanism, which I don’t intend to even attempt to play with.

Certainly the highlight of the kit is the huge decal sheet with a full complement of stencils (most go on the bottom surface) and all three permutations of British Air markings from 1976 until retirement in 2003. The printing is well done, although the toned "furls" in the last fin-flag design are missing. Arguably the most beautiful aircraft to rise from a runway, the supersonic Concorde airliners were recently retired. A traveler able to afford a Concorde flight enjoyed a trans-Atlantic crossing in a bit more than three hours. The graceful deltas were expensive to operate and their sonic booms forced the carriers to restrict supersonic speeds for the over-ocean portions of their flights. In its line of paints, the heller paint color chart has a high quality acrylic range and well covering.

CONCORDE MODEL KIT 04257 REVELL BRITISH AIRWAYS CONCORDE MODEL KIT

The plastic main landing-gear struts are fortified with metal rods. The main wheel well doesn't fit tightly to the wing bottom, but the main doors hide most of the mismatch. Based on a new tooling release of an Air France aircraft by Heller in 2004, the 1:72 scale Concorde was subsequently released by Airfix in 2005 in British Airways guise. The last re-release by Airfix was in 2008, however Revell then decided to market this kit and in 2015 we saw their effort become available. All versions have the same plastic in the box coming from the same moulds and it was really only new decals and box art that distinguished between them.

The finished model is eye-catching, mostly because of the subject. Serious modelers will want to take more time than the 45 hours I put into mine to improve the fit, clean up mold marks, and perhaps try to make the hinged nose work better. A large six-piece stand is an option, and the kit can be built with landing gear up or down. Provision is made for the Concorde's droop-nose feature. Panel detail is recessed, but soft. The plastic, too, is soft and a bit rubbery. The integrity of the mechanism that allows the nose to droop is compromised by a complex design and the combination of soft white and brittle clear styrene. It worked once for me before something gave way. I ended up gluing the nose in the raised position. An instruction manual is provided for you inside the box.
