About this deal

A smooth and refined fragrance with a light delicate taste of violet rounded off with a subtle sweetness and soft scents of juniper. To find out more on cherry gins, and other flavoured gins, why not also explore our Gin Club (UK delivery only), members receiving two new gins straight to their door each month, along with information around the chosen gins and complimenting mixers. There are a number of different cherry flavoured gins available, offering up wonderfully sweet tastes – for example, the JJ Whitley Pink Cherry Gin offers an aroma of fresh orange almonds, its tasting notes going on to describe this initial sweetness as “leading into marzipan, sour cherry and juniper on the palate.”

JJ Whitley Pink Cherry Gin | Ocado

Wonderful smoothness with clear notes of juniper, perfectly complemented by hints of citrus, spice and parma violets. This gin has a hit of Mediterranean summer orange on the nose, with flavours of candied orange marmalade, infused with subtle earthy undertones of liquorice root and the warming spice of cassia bark. Finished with herbaceous piney juniper notes, complemented by summer citrus.

J.J. Whitley Pink Cherry Gin (1.75L) | Master of Malt

Cherry gin often refers to a type of flavoured gin with the dominant taste being (that’s right, you guessed it!) cherry. The serve recommends adding the 50ml of cherry gin to the glass, already filled with the ice, topping this up with the tonic before adding the cherry syrup and stirring this all in thoroughly. After this, garnish with the 2 cherries. J.J Whitley spent much of his childhood in old Georgian and Victorian vicarages, latterly in Daresbury – the birthplace of Lewis Carroll. These vicarages would have had expansive kitchen gardens and natural hedgerows in which the young J.J would have played. As he grew older, the English countryside became the natural source of key ingredients for tantalising recipes like this Elderflower Gin, made with real elderflower extract.

Everything started in 1762 when Thomas Greenall set up the first distillery. Since the 1800s, Constance the copper still has seen more botanicals and juniper berries than David Attenborough has seen in his lifetime of adventures. J.J Whitley Violet Gin is the product of eight generations of distilling history. Its recipe uses a blend of eight botanicals including juniper, angelica root, coriander and liquorice with a natural flavour burst of the quintessential English country garden flower, the violet. Johnny grew up in a family which lived and breathed Gin for as long as he can remember. His fascination for this juniper based spirit was spurred on by his Grandmother, the owner of Greenall’s at the time. She guided him in his journey to understand how different botanicals affect the taste of Gin and fostered his ambition to produce his own blend later in life. His Father was a Director of the Greenall’s distillery and brewery, so he had the opportunity to observe and learn the incredibly valuable traditional methods he used to produce Whitley Neill Gin. J.J Whitley Bramble gin delivers a delicious burst of sweetened berries with subtle tart citrus flavours finishing with subtle mulled spice and pepper. For example, a pint of cider can amount to 216 calories, while a 175ml glass of wine can come to 159.
