About this deal

I think R.E.M. gets a bad rep because people tend to associate lavender notes with colognes, which is why they find this scent masculine. Now I love lavender & unisex scents. I own Coffee Break, Libre, and Libre Intense, and I think R.E.M. uses a lavender note that smells quite expensive. I would label it a feminine-leaning unisex fragrance because it smells a bit too sweet for a cologne. I don’t get dryer sheets or essential oils from this at all. I get a beautiful lavender, salt, zefir, tonka bean and caramel opening that dries down to a sweet, clean, white musk. This doesn’t smell like any other perfume in my collection, including Coffee Break, which could be R.E.M.’s cousin, but is different enough due to the coffee and milk notes.

Now you're going home, you realize his cologne is still lingering on your clothes and is mixing with your sweet perfume. It's already making you nostalgic of this magical moment.

And isn't that funny, how different fragrances from different houses smell more like flankers, compared to actual flanker releases being shilled at the minute! *eyes slowly shift to Angel Elixir*) You're in your late teens or in your early twenties. You've just spent the entire day with your boyfriend, snuggling at his place, watching Netflix shows together. It's the weekend & the weather is a little bit chilly--- you were dressed in your coziest sweater. If for some reason I was told that I could only keep one perfume for the rest of my life, I would choose to keep R.E.M. I just finished up my 1.7 Oz bottle and I’m waiting for a sale at Ulta to buy my next bottle because I don’t think my collection is truly complete without this scent. In my opinion, R.E.M. is the best Ariana Grande perfume and it doesn’t smell like a conventional celebrity perfume. I like some sweetness to my perfumes, but I like it cut by other interesting notes, so I generally can't stand things like Pink Sugar or Ariana's Sweet Like Candy that are pure sugar. But, while waiting for a friend, I tried REM on a whim because the bottle was so pretty, and wow, talk about love at first sniff. It takes some getting used to. I'm really confused by the notes listed here because I thought the "thank you, next" perfume smell very buttery and salty. I didn't smell any saltiness or butter in this at all.

I don't buy lavender scents I am so happy I don't feel it because Lavender would complete ruin that beauty. I like notes with Clean, Fresh Soap. Its well composed scent. That being said, I don't think I'll be repurchasing, because it doesn't project as much as Id like it to, and the lasting power is poor. Once it's sprayed, it sits close to skin. The projection is fair, longevity about 4 hours. But since I usually spray perfume when I freshen up myself mid day, so I don't find the sillage and lasting power as a problem. Nothing in this screams too much, yet this is wonderfully pleasing and calming to wear throughout the day even on the warmest day. I feel like I can smell all the top notes for quite a while, the scent doesn't change much throughout the day. I also think this perfume is quite feminine but not in a really young or over-the-top way, it's quite subtle in the best way possible. I can still see why some people say it's unisex though. I think sillage is moderate, I have gotten compliments on it even after it's been on for hours. On my skin pretty much all the Ariana Grande scents last including this one. I feel like I can get through a full 8-hour work day and still smell wafts of it around me. It does become more subtle and intimate after maybe five or so hours though. This is a really reassuring and romantic perfume, in that sense. Very bold for an affordable, celebrity fragrance. It's great for linen too--- spray your bedsheets and have the sweetest dreams. This is such a lovely skin scent and is honestly one of my favourite fragrances at the moment. I feel like the best way to describe it is as your skin but better. It smells like clean skin (but it's not at all soapy) with an added sweetness and something else that's just amazing. I think it's a pretty unique smell, especially for a celebrity perfume. MM's Coffee Break is a smoother, unisex lavender perfume but it does have masculine undertones too. If you find that R.E.M is too masculine, you might have the same opinion on Coffee Break. To me, it even smells like it could fit a more mature young man? IMO, R.E.M could suit a boy in his late teens - early 20's whereas Coffee Break would best fit a young man getting close to 25 or even older. Coffee Break is still relaxed and youthful but it's definitely more mature too. R.E.M is sweeter and still has that "one of my very first perfumes" vibe.

The caramel keeps the lavender from being too fresh, giving it a semi sweet edge. It doesn't mean it's a bad odor; it's actually a little bit sexy and natural smelling. Anyway Imo its pretty and lovely; warm and sweet scent. It doesn't smell like celebrity scent...to me it smells like expensive components.

On first spray, it’s all sweet lavender and salt. I’m not usually a fan of sweet lavender but this really does it for me. The caramel and marshmallow do make it sweet, but it’s not cloying. It reminds me of a dessert you’d get at a Michelin starred restaurant. Like a salted caramel and lavender s’more with tonal creme under a salt dome with sandalwood air upon removing the dome. The dry down is like a cozy hug. This was a really nice one for me. I think if I was trying to get something new that I liked I would get this. It's one of those fragrances that you're not sure if your head over heels for or if you just like it. This is a dream. It doesn't blow me away, but it has its own charms. It's interesting because when I smell it closely, I mostly get a very pure lavender (the kind of scent that you get going to a lavender farm or from a small pillow / sachet filled with lavender), and a subtle sweetness paired with woodiness that likely evokes that slightly fougere signature that some people talk about with R.E.M., but from arms length / with my arms laid flat on my desk (I spritzed it once on my arm for test), I enjoy a very gourmand touch to the perfume. I personally don't agree with the cologne comparison but I see where they're coming from because of the lavender element. I really enjoy the zefir in this and it shines with the subtle saltiness in it. The quince and pear give it such feminine elegance. I would call this a comforting and feminine fragrance, but its also quite unisex appropriate. I am in heaven when I wear this. It doesn’t smell masculine to me, but I guess I could understand why some feel it does. The lavender note can be interpreted that way. But to me all the sweet gourmand elements make it overtly feminine. That being said, I don't think it's a perfume version of Lush' Sleepy lotion. They layer beautiful, though. But if you're looking for that soft & milky candied lavender, R.E.M won't give it to you. The lavender is not sweet. The lavender is cologney, masculine and not as smooth nor delicate as Lush's Sleepy body lotion. The sweetness in R.E.M is there because of the gourmand and fruity notes on top, but it's also fleeting. It doesn't give a candied effect to the lavender, if that makes sense...
