Kentaro Miura's prized piece of writing that began in 1989 and has continued to the present day has been a staple in the horror/fantasy genre of manga. The main character Guts is the inspiration for countless characters in media such as Cloud Strife, Asta, Artorias, and Ichigo Kurosaki. Berserk's influence is undeniable and as the story continues so does the number of readers. The story grabs you with perfectly set-up plot points that take many chapters to develop, and keeps the reader as entertained as in the earliest chapters. A feat many long-running series can't attain. Unfortunately on May 6th, 2021 brilliant author and illustrator Kentaro Miura would pass before his time at 54. Meanwhile the other two books focus on Guts and company while they land on a strange island with some Lovecraftian Fish God vibes. These chapters have some weaker elements, but overall are still strong. Especially the continued growth of Farnese who is becoming a great character. Isidro has some growth as well and his interactions with Isma (a new character) give him some depth and fun moments. Isma makes for a great addition and her storyline is affecting and interesting.
