About this deal
We combined our widely praised Neat Glass with one of our 3oz Flight Bottles and housed them together in a custom EVA travel case.
Now produced at the Jim Beam distillery in Clermont, Kentucky and made with high rye content in the mash bill for a drier and spicier style of Bourbon and bottled at 100 Proof (50% ABV) as are the straight Rye and small batch Bourbon versions. A bit of Googling will point toward a wheated mash bill, and the different flavors that imparts relative to a high rye mash bill. It comes to us at 100 proof (50% ABV), so: not a scorcher, but it’s got noticeably more “oomph” than something in the low-80s. I’ve been drinking KC9 for about 25 years, maybe to the point where it’s probably had too much influence on my palate. The aroma is spicy and sweet with melted salted butter on granary toast, toasty oak and a touch of rye with a caramel sweetness on the nose. Produced by Jim Beam, it’s a traditional blend with years spent maturing and a spicy sweetness which is warmly satisfying.
And we finish by meticulously aging our whiskey in white oak barrels with maximum char, for an unmistakable richness and signature sweetness. Love it or loathe it, the Jim Beam distillery DNA has been evident in every expression I have tried from Knob Creek.Prominent hazelnut and almond lead the flavour of this rum, with vanilla rounding it all off smoothly.
Even when first encountering the aroma you’ll get that mix of spice and sweetness, with granary toast melding with toasty oak and a spicy touch of rye. In the midst of a industry-wide rush to sell, barrels that had hardly been aged were utilised and quality was often the casualty. In the mouth: Very lean and firm to begin, with a pert kiss of limestone and some intense floral notes, reminiscent of rosewater or perfume. In mouth, lively persistent bubbles with clean, soft creamy fruit, excellent intensity and a lingering finish.
