Viewed as an authentic Bruges beer-brand, Zot Blonde and Brune are a step up in terms of quality from the more widely-available abbey beer. For deliveries to the USA please note that due to severe restrictions by courier companies, the maximum amount of liquid that can be sent is 75cl per consignment. The beer is brewed with four different types of malt and two aromatic hop varieties that give the beer a unique taste. A full box also helps to reduce the small chance of damage, as empty compartments collapsing can be a cause of this.

We have worked with our friends across the beer industry for nearly two decades, sourcing world-class craft beer from all around the globe and delivering it direct to people's doors. The finished product is full bodied with a sweet malt character which is nicely balanced with fruit tones and is followed with a crisp and clean finish.There was blonde, brown, sometimes a bit more hoppy or a bit sweeter, but the concern for a fair quality product remained the main thing. Please note that it isn’t always possible to provide a perfect looking bottle/label as this very much depends on the condition they are received in from our supplier.

Legend has it that Maximilian replied with the legendary words: "Close all the gates of Bruges and you have a madhouse! In 2005 Xavier Vanneste, sixth generation at Brewery De Halve Maan, revived the brewery with the launch of Brugse Zot.Since the brewery first started, Halve Maan has further developed their beers, including Brugse Zot Dubbel, which has been produced using Saaz hops and six specialty malts. Please note that we are not IOSS registered due to the nature of our products (alcoholic beverages). The bitterness can bring back the balance in the flavour while at the same time accentuating certain fruity or herby hints.

The four different malts used in making this bottle conditioned golden blond beer give it a unique and wonderfully satisfying flavour. Brugse Zot, a city beer for Bruges brewed by De Halve Maan, was launched in 2005 by Xavier Vanneste, but its name harks back to the late Middle Ages, when the Emperor Maximilian of Austria visited Bruges. Bruges Zot, which is a reference to the nickname "Bruges fools" given to the townsfolk, produces one of Belgium's best loved golden ales and a fantastic raisin and plummy brun.

Brugse Zot also goes through a re-fermentation that helps develop the taste while it’s in the bottle. When Maximilian came to Bruges in 1488 to suppress the rebellion, the people of Bruges took the emperor as a prisoner.
