About this deal

Other accessories from Nikon and third parties, including protective cases and bags, eyepiece adapters and correction lenses, and underwater housings. What Nikon's still camera division probably doesn't realize yet is that the DX sensor is very close to the size of Hollywood 35mm movie film, which is a half of the frame that still photographers call "full-frame." In the roughest terms, Hollywood shoots 18 x 24mm frames all day. The D90’s higher score reflects its superior performance and features. However, the D80 does hold an advantage in weight, being lighter at 668g compared to the D90’s 703g. This could make the D80 more appealing for those prioritizing portability. The d90 model comes with 3 inches with 170 degrees wide angle LED display. It allows you to capture your photographs by viewing more details and also helps with capturing video footage. prototype with integrated WiFi; production model has no WiFi unless you use an Eye-Fi card, and then only for transferring files, not web browsing on the rear LCD). Richard Butler & Simon Joinson (2008-10-13). "Nikon D90 Review: 36. Conclusion". Digital Photography Review . Retrieved 2009-10-25. The Nikon D90 is Nikon's newest and smartest DSLR. It has the same or better technical image quality as the D300 that costs much more, and it handles better and it makes movies, too! Unless you hire a Hollywood-bred Focus Puller and mount your D90 to a dolly and rig up that big white write-on calibrated external focus knob that the Focus Puller uses to pull focus from known point to known point as actors move between their known and rehearsed marks, your movies will be out of focus. It doesn’t matter if you’re new to photography or a professional. You’re well aware that lenses are a crucial part of a camera, and it’s no different for the Nikon d90.If you know how to turn on all the hot stuff in the D90, like ADR and adjust the Picture Controls which are newer and more flexible than the D40, D60 and D80, by all means, get a D90. I hope to have a plain-English user's guide to the D90 which will show you how to use all these great features, in which case, the D90 will be able to crank out more vivid colors and smoother skin tones than the D40. Auto modes (auto, auto [flash off]), Advanced Scene Modes (Portrait, Landscape, Sports, Close-up, Night Portrait), programmed auto with flexible program (P), shutter-priority auto (S), aperture-priority auto (A), manual (M) Just so you know keeping the image sensor clean is crucial. However, it’s quite a hassle and really risky to the sensor if you don’t know what to do. With the Nikon d90, you have 4 effective ultrasonic sensors which help you keep the camera sensor clean. Auto Focusing System The first feature film shot with a D90 was Reverie. [11] Ray Mist, [12] the film's cinematographer, praised the camera for its dynamic range, its ability to support 35mm optics offering greater choices of focal length and depth of focus, and large sensor in comparison to standard video cameras within and beyond the D90's price range. [13] Optional accessories [ edit ] As you’re probably aware if you’ve read this far, the D90’s main claim to fame is that it is the world’s first digital SLR to feature video shooting capability, in high-definition 1280 x 720 pixel resolution at 24 frames a second with mono audio. However this isn’t the D90’s only unique feature, beacuse it also has GPS location logging via an optional external satellite receiver which slots onto the flash hot-shoe. I’m hoping to take a look at this gadget when it is launched next week.

If you shoot in the dark, pro photographers first improve the light. If you can't improve the lighting and need to shoot at high ISOs, the D700 and D3 are vastly superior to an DX camera. The "Auto" position works OK, but I got better results with a manual in-camera adjustment. Neither was perfect; there's still curvature. Far nicer rear multi selector. The D300 has a mushy single piece of crap, while the D3, D700 and D90 have much better two-piece controls with a separate center OK button. So far I've owned three DSLRs, a D90, a D7200 and a D500. All are still working perfectly and I haven't had an ounce of trouble with any of them.

You also zoom in with a live view to have a better sharp review of the photographs. Just follow the earlier settings, just go to live view and set it up 1:1(100%) magnification. Fast Image Review Auto, portrait, close-up - Auto and auto with red-eye reduction available with built-in flash - Fill-flash and red-eye reduction available with optional flash units MH-18a Charger, DK-5 Eyepiece Cap, DK-21 Rubber Eyecup, CUC-E4 USB Cable, EG-D2 AV Cable, AN-DC1 Strap, BM-10 LCD Monitor Cover, Body Cap, BS-1 Accessory Shoe Cover, Software CD and Nikon ViewNX Browsing and Editing SoftwareChromatic Aberration Reduction. As noted, the anti-CA system in the D90 seems to work identically to that in the D3 and D300. The crops above were taken from the corners of converted RAW files with the D90 and the new 18-105mm VR kit lens. It's a very good kit lens for the price, but there's some moderate to strong CA in the corners, as can be seen clearly in RAW files, as above. Non-CPU: Autofocus not supported. Can be used in exposure mode M, but exposure meter does not function. Electronic rangefinder can be used if lens has a maximum aperture of f/5.6 or faster. Bottom Line: D80 upgraders. Certainly, one large group of potential D90 buyers are current owners of the previous D80. Building on the strengths of its excellent predecessor, the Nikon D90 has an awful lot going for it. It upgrades several specs and adds a number of new features over the D80. The key question is whether current D80 owners will find upgrading to the Nikon D90 a worthwhile move or not. To my mind, there are several factors that could drive this decision: A fairly wide zoom range, 5.8x from wide to tele, equivalent to a 27-157.5mm lens on a 35mm camera.
