About this deal

Both sets aren’t far apart when it comes to resolution although the Etymotic are ultimately a bit ahead, which is especially audible in the lows in very fast and demanding scenarios where the Starfield just sound softer, slower and lose control earlier. MOONDROP has been making audio gears since 2015, they became quite popular in 2019 due to their Kanas line up but i personally liked the Nameless when I bought it in 2018, it is very underrated and it features a very clean tonality. The bass has slow decay, which won’t be too much of an issue had it not been the general lack of texture in the bass response.

This feels like a literal solid chunk of aluminum and might be the new standard for build quality in a budget IEM for my foreseeable future. D which has so many instruments and opera verses which Starfileds handled with ease, every instrument could be heard distinct and crisp clear due to which the whole experience transported to studio recording space and it became very easy to pin point location of every instrument placed in 3-d sphere of audio immersion. And because it doesn't exhibit any of these problems, I have to give it close to top marks for timbre. If you’re someone who likes a great amount of low end and listen to treble focused tracks, then this might not be the pair for you.

Overall, I would say that the Starfield are about average without any glaring faults in the technical department, and place tuning over ultimate performance. Equipped with a brass-plated inner cavity and integrates five pressure relief holes in the basin frame, it will control the air damping of the diaphragm, so that to improve the energy balance of frequency band and brings the smooth tri-band transition. The deeper philosophy behind that makes me wonder if the artists and production company intended this, or not. I would also toss the Linsoul Shuoer Tape Electrostatic IEM into this list, but I’ve not heard it yet.

For detail retrieval, I hear the best image clarity and detail representation in the Starfield's lower midrange.Beautiful dark blue metallic colour that changes quite a bit and appears different depending on the environmental lighting. Comfort and Isolation: The Starfield is heavier than your typical IEM but is mostly comfortable for long listening sessions. Female vocals meanwhile never got shouty and has a particular smoothness to them that is hardly found in the chi-fi land. The bass tends to sound somewhat soft and the general resolution and control decrease with very fast and demanding recordings, however most of the time this is not really a problem. Supposedly the Blon BL-05s are using thermoacoustic drivers but I haven’t seen the insides of one to know for sure.

In the Starfield's case, however, the single dynamic driver's diaphragm makes use of this carbon nanotube technology to improve stiffness and rigidity for better detail retrieval ability and to reproduce higher frequencies as well.

In the same manner that vocals are well defined, instruments are also very well defined, especially guitars.
