About this deal

I read mainly Mysteries and Thrillers, with over half of my reads being Advanced Reader Copies (ARCs) directly from the publisher/author. So far, I have had direct contact with more than 300 people like this - we are an underground community. Gently rolling the top down, I uncover more of the mutilated animal, its tail, ginger and striped, curled to the side of the guts. I really enjoyed The Serial Killers wife, so I was so grateful to receive a copy of the next in the series The Serial Killers daughter.

The Serial Killer’s Daughter is a tense, taut thriller that pulls you along with it right to the last page. But I go back to that incident so often and I think: "If he had told me, what would have happened next? The long gravel drive is empty, and there is no noise from the neighbours – we can’t even see their houses from here. There are many things that happen during this book and Jane is paranoid that she may actually have hurt Olivia so she is desperate to find out what happens when she has a blackout. And finally I knew the answer to the question that had been bothering me every time I thought about our last breakfast together in the diner. It was a few months after that trip to the diner, in March 1995, that my mother told us three kids that he had been arrested for murder.

My fingers tremble as I hold them up, my brain fighting to connect what I see with a memory of how they came to be like this. Ella and Alfie are in their school uniforms, each sitting at the table eating two rounds of Marmite on toast, glasses of orange juice poured ready for them to down before packing them into the car to drive to Coleton Combe primary.

And, hitting thirty-five and realising I didn’t want that forever, I had drunkenly divulged my ‘big The book was told from a few different perspectives (Jenny's, Mark's, letters between Jenny and her dad, the bad guy's, etc) but it was easy to follow. Mark has everything running like a well-oiled machine by the time I reach the kitchen, dressed for work, my face plastered with my usual make-up and a smile.

It’s times like these I wish he’d made use of the ample space in our house to set up his office here – it would save a lot of bother as well as keep business costs down, but he was adamant he needed a place away from the home, somewhere he could separate his work and family life. And the crime is harrowingly similar to those her father committed all those years ago… But she’s not her father’s daughter.

Wow congratulations to Alice Hunter on an absolutely brilliant debut novel,a true page turner very difficult to put down just had to keep reading. Jenny didn't have a great childhood as her father went to prison for a very long time and she has never told anyone the truth as she worries that they will think that she has his evil genes. But I did find it a bit slow in parts and only fully invested in it about the last third of the book. Jenny has had several blackouts and does not remember what happens the next day, so she wonders has she got anything to do with Oliva’s disappearance and she keeps doubting herself. And the crime is harrowingly similar to those her father committed all those years ago…Then there’s the blackouts, mysterious packages being left at her door.
