Prior application of Rustins Advanced Clear Wood Preserver is recommended for exterior woodwork. Preparation: The bare wood must be clean, smooth, dry and free from wax, dust and contaminants. Remove wax or surface oil from oily timbers such as Teak and Iroko by scrubbing with white spirit or Rustins Surface Cleaner and a scouring pad, then wipe away whilst still wet with clean rags. Remove existing paint and varnishes with Rustins Strypit Paint and Varnish Stripper. Bare wood may be dyed before coating with Rustin Wood Dye. Do not apply with Knotting.

It is an easy-to-use wipe-on finish, which brings out the beauty of the timber and gives a natural, open grained and soft lustrous finish. Intended Use: Primarily for interior bare wood and joinery. Before use on veneered doors and timber refer to the furniture manufacturers instructions as some coating products are not suitable for this application. Application: Apply liberally with a clean rag or brush and wipe off the surplus oil after a few minutes. Nibs may be removed from the final coat by applying oil with a scouring pad, rubbing in the direction of the grain, then wiping away the surplus with clean rags or paper kitchen towels. For a superior smooth finish, the final coat may be applied using a plastic scouring pad, rubbing in the direction of the grain and wiping away any surplus with a soft, lint-free cloth or paper towel It is ideal for all woods and is excellent on turned woodwork. The finish is satin and differs from teak oil in that it contains special ingredients to give it a low lustre finish. For a gloss finish, use Rustins Teak Oil.Always do a test area before starting any project to assess product suitability and final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the container at all times. Stir / shake Rustins Danish Oil well before use or product will dry to a gloss finish.

Three coats should be applied to bare wood. Drying time is 4-6 hours depending on temperature and humidity. Re-coat once the previous coat is dry. Coverage is approximately 14sq.m per litre per coat depending on the absorbency of the wood. Periodic re-oiling is required. Clean surfaces before re-oiling using White Spirit. Wood may be stained or dyed with either a water-based or solvent-based wood stain or dye before oiling if required Shelf-life/Storage: Many years if stored in original, tightly closed container in normal cool, dry conditions. Note: once opened it is recommended that the oil is transferred to a smaller metal/glass container as it is used up to minimise the airspace over the oil as this can cause the formation of a solid gel.
