About this deal

This stuff is supposed to be awesome, but it isn't water based paint and I don't know how to deal with it it. Here is an example with Mr Colour silver and Mr Colour clear colours air brushed but they have clear colours in rattle cans too.

However, I do not have experience with polishing afterwards. I guess it is wise to let cure properly for a couple of days. Apply multiple thin coats and do not use a substitute thinner like Isopropyl alcohol as this flashes off faster than X-20A thinner. Though it will thin Tamiya paint, never use water as a thinner.Hi just tagged onto this old thread but have restarted airbrushing and have been experimenting the last week or so with Xtracrylix paints, looking for some advice on Tamiya gloss varnish. I think general tamiya paints are thinned 1:1 with paint using tamiya thinners and sprayed at 15psi, that’s worked for me. Cool, thanks. What does water cleanup paint mean? I hope that doesn't mean if my model gets wet the dried paint becomes wet again! Thanks Nikola, I've tried so many different acrylic clears, and all have seemed to take an age to dry. I'll give you suggestion a go

Don't spray it with lacquer clearcoat though. It acts like spraying lacquer over enamel and wrinkles really bad. Painting clear red over a metallic gold will indeed produce a nice "candy red" finish, think Iron Man's suit of armor. https://www.stardustcolors.co.uk/vallejo-acrylic-serie/1206-candy-transparent-colours-acrylic-paints-for-airbrush.html Have used it but tend to thin Tamiya paints with standard cellelouse thinner now and they level out lovely and the finish is a little smoother. Also, since I want to do an alternate paint sceme, I may not paint the force weapons blue. So I may use the clear red there too over a metallic. Unlike with all the lettering though, where it is small and detailed, this would be clear red applied to flat surfaces. Not sure if it is streaky / coats evenly / etc; if it would work there.I think being a bit brighter will probably be a good thing, I really like the bright candy red look that FW have achieved. It takes a long time to dry, this won't be a problem when doing big batches but I was experimenting on an old Predator and despite waiting for what seemed like forever I still did the second coat too soon and it glooped up horribly. Also, after the clear red dries, how easily can I paint over it if I make a mistake? Will GW washes work on it? Anything else I need to know?

I used a straw taped to the nozzle, and just sprayed into a glass vile. Worked relatively well, so I could do that again for translucents, but not sure. For solid/opaque it seemed ok. But the clear red looks awesome over it, or the blue for that matter. Tamiya acrylic paints are made from water-soluble acrylic resins and are excellent for either brush painting or air-brushing. These paints can be used on styrene ... I wouldn't use them straight out of the pot. I made a 50/50 mix in a separate 40ml dropper pot, works great.

question about Tamiya clear paints - Large Scale Planes question about Tamiya clear paints - Large Scale Planes

My mates son just did his first slot car shell using sharpies why didn't I think of that haha .. but yes they probably would work also. Don't get me wrong, I like Tamiya acrylics, I nearly have their entire range and use them all the time for hand painting to great results. To achieve a “Candy” appearance you want a metallic base and a clear colour coat. Experiment with base coats such as chrome, high metallic flake silver or gold. Not the best photo in the world but I assure you, all the parts that have been gloss coated are very smooth.I had done this in the past to get paint out of a spray can so that I can spray it in an airbrush. Yes, sounds silly but for some reasons, some color are only available in spray cans. After all these to and fo, I cannot believe I completely forgot this: YES, YOU CAN IN FACT BRUSH PAINT PS PAINTS! If you have the color you want in PS of course, and frankly, it will be better as they are the right paint for doing the job and paint from spray are well thinned down ready to go. I may have been using it wrong, but I use it a lot for blood, as it has a very nice, glossy look to it. I'll paint the model normally, including the part which will be bloody, and then add the red over that. It doesn't have 100% coverage, so the paint bellow shows through a bit, but that is why I prefer it to other methods. Tamiya acrylic paints are made from water-soluble acrylic resins and are excellent for either brush painting or air-brushing. These paints can be used on styrene resins, Styrofoam, wood, plus all of the common model plastics. The paint covers well, flows smoothly, and can be blended easily. Prior to curing, paint can be washed away with plain water. Tamiya now recommend that for missing colours you use the PS spray paints and simply spray into the cap for brushing."
