About this deal

When I was a 12 year old child I first discovered Dungeons and Dragons at a candy store owned by a dentist (he was probably investing in making sure he had future work as a dentist) in Dayton, Ohio. At one corner of the candy store was a section which included Dungeons and Dragon Basic Sets and the hard cover Advanced Dungeons and Dragons books – Player’s Handbook, Dungeon Master’s Guide and the Monster Manual. He also had Ral Partha miniatures made out of real lead and tons of dice as well as some war games like Ogre and Star Fleet Battles. That store was my gateway drug to the wonderful world of role playing and war gaming. I can’t even tell you how many hours I spent with my friends playing D&D on Friday and Saturday nights. Now that I’m older, I don’t have as much time to keep up with role playing as I used to and it’s currently a little difficult to get groups together anymore.{default} That being said, I do know that some of my friends have some of the expansions, and they say that the game is even better and is much improved with “lore cards”. I don’t have any idea what they mean by this, but hopefully one of them will comment below.

When you think of dungeon crawlers/dungeon delvers I tend to think of minis, map tiles, heavy rules and a big box to keep all the "stuffs" in. Mini rogue flips this on its head. There are no minis, the rules are relatively light and it comes in a very small and compact box. But how does it play, that is the real question, right? Well read on to find out more. Room cards contain things like traps, monsters, random people you find on your quest such as merchants or hunters or special rooms such as the alter room. You can trade gold with merchants and hunters to buy food, potions, heals, etc. You may run in to a friendly raven who, for either food or gold, will help you in your quest. The Necromancer (The Old Gods expansion card identified by triangle-shaped icon in lower right corner of image) While we have to say the game is not for everyone, it’s as close as you can get for a primarily solitaire game that models an archaic video game concept. Mini Rogue goes beyond its humble beginnings of a nine-card game into something really special. Like the best little games, it’s able to worm its way into your heart, and like the best solo games it’ll whisper to you from the dungeon-grate that “there’s time for one more…” Mini Rogue is a game deeply inspired by roguelikes. In this single-player or cooperative game, you play as an adventurer who, room by room and floor by floor, slowly makes his way into the heart of the dungeon in search of the Blood of Og: a legendary artifact with an aura of mystery.Note: per this thread, the same cards are already in the base game, these just have the holographic foil effect added. Thus this item is treated on BGG as an accessory (adding bling), rather than an expansion (adding functionality). Put your character meeple on the first room which is the room on the left most position on the 3 x 3 matrix of cards you have put face down. Flip that starting room card over and deal with the results. Heighten your dungeon-crawling experience with the allure of gold. This 9-card expansion is composed of all boss cards and a rewards card with a stunning holographic effect.

When playing in the co-op mode, players upgrade enemy health and lose out on the advantages that come from the character improvement of campaign mode. Both of these modes are elegantly built on top of the core loop. The campaign mode lets players buy their way through a skill tree, giving you a better chance as you delve deeper. Had my regular Cthulhu Wars crew over today. We usually try to start with something else (we've been playing a fair amount of Tiny Epic Crimes lately) and when talking about a couple other games, I...

Mini Rogue: new game by Nuts! Publishing releasing in September 2021

Monsters, dangers, treasures, bosses, dungeons, random rooms and encounters are all present in Mini Rogue. In this 1-2 player game, you play an adventurer who dives into a dungeon, room after room, area after area, level after level, to steal the Blood of Og: a legendary and mysterious gem. Each area of the dungeon is laid out as a branching of rooms. Each time you encounter two rooms, you must choose one of them. I wish there was a little more variation between the dungeon and the tower. Both are made up of 10 areas and 4 levels. Each area is composed of 8 randomly drawn room cards and 1 boss card as the last card formed in to a 3 x 3 matrix. Each room card is put face down and is revealed either when you move into it or by spying on adjacent room cards. The mage can use a spell to reveal up to 3 room cards.
