About this deal

One day long ago, a terrible accident occurred on Jellicoe Road, "the prettiest road...ever seen, where trees made breezy canopies like a tunnel to Shangri-la." The accident upended the lives of two unrelated families, and the survivors and those they came to love were to bear the scars of the experience. Talking in Your Dreams: Webb dreamed of Taylor, which is where he got her name, and Taylor dreams of Webb, but she only knows him as 'the boy in the tree'.

The Chew Toy: Ben, who's constantly belittled and abused by the House captains, when he isn't getting beaten up by the Cadets. I think what also added to my experience was that I read this with a group of besties. We'd text eachother our thoughts and laugh about how much this book was making us cry. I had the best time reading this. A thousand thanks to Fares for suggesting we read one of his favourite books. It has become one of mine as well 🌻. the history of her family, the Schroeders and the Markhams, who set out on their separate journeys that day not realizing the tragic ironies and joys of that collision of worlds on the Jellicoe Road. These people have history and I crave history. I crave someone knowing me so well that they can tell what I'm thinking.”On the Jellicoe Road has been included on several lists of recommended reading for young adults, including:

Children Forced to Kill: A young boy is so scared for his mother and brother, the victims of violent abuse, that he ends up killing his own father. The boy likes to hear Taylor's stories about living at the Jellicoe School, especially the school's war with the Townies and the Cadets from the Sydney military school. When she runs across a book/journal written by Hannah, she begins to unveil some long-standing secrets. Along with some friends from her school, she has several creepy encounters and a variety of adventures. There is some sort of rivalry described between the two groups of kids...but I was pretty confused so I can't say I ever really grasped what that was about for sure. Chekhov's Gun: That tunnel Jessa's always going on about, the one her father used to tell her about? It's just a myth, right? There's also another source of drama in this girl's life—her complicated relationship with the leader of the Cadets, Jonah Griggs. There are miles of tension between these two because they are rivals in the territory wars, and yet they also kind of like each other.

Taylor is leader of the boarders at the Jellicoe School. She has to keep the upper hand in the territory wars and deal with Jonah Griggs—the enigmatic leader of the cadets, and someone she thought she would never see again. As if that's not enough, Taylor has some major responsibilities on her hands. She's the leader of one of the Houses on the school's campus and has also been chosen to lead the school in their annual territory war with Jellicoe's Townies and the military school Cadets who come to town once a year for training in the wilderness. Cool and Unusual Punishment: Choi, when captured by the Students, is forced to play chess. To be fair, they only did it because they thought he'd be good at it. (He wasn't.) A stairway to the roof opens up to reveal a perfect space for a terrace with wide unrivalled views over the dunes and sea - Yarmouth's port and big wheel glinting in the distance. The kids walk Taylor down the hall, where she sees some girls peeking through their doors at her. One of them is her best friend, Raffaela, whom she's known since Taylor first came to Jellicoe School. Measuring the Marigolds: When Webb and Jude look at a beautiful landscape, Webb sees a beautiful landscape and Jude sees a prospective fighting ground. A brilliant novel by the best-selling author of Looking for Alibrandi. Winner of the American Library Association's Michael L. Printz Award for Excellence in Young Adult Literature in 2009.
