About this deal

i’m also so thankful i read this at a time where ‘love, whiskey’ existed because it made ALLTW so much more perfect. it would’ve felt so incomplete had i not had that to read after even though those 11 chapters pained me more than the entirety of ALLTW did. like i said below, i hate yet love this book with every fiber of my being. it is so phenomenal its insane.

A Love Letter to Whiskey is 𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐤𝐞𝐩𝐭 𝐦𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐬.” — 𝘕𝘦𝘸 𝘠𝘰𝘳𝘬 𝘛𝘪𝘮𝘦𝘴 𝘉𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘈𝘶𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘳 Penelope Ward⁣ I read romance because it’s fun to fall in love. And with romance books, I get to do it over and over. I get to be different types of lovers, I get to feel the heartbreak of love and the successes. Love is the most powerful and real emotion we feel, and I think it’s sort of magical that we can experience some of the greatest loves of all time through books.” Because that’s what life’s about. It’s about paddling out and fighting the waves until you find the perfect one to ride home on." I feel like this review has been a lot of rambling and I’m not giving this story the type of review it deserves. It’s because my emotions are all over the place. This story is bittersweet. It’s heart-wrenching and soul shattering. And it absolutely blew me away. It’s a book that you’ll love to hate and hate to love. I feel like no matter how you feel after reading, YOU WILL FEEL. This is a story that will elicit strong feelings from everyone who reads it. I had no idea the fifth anniversary edition of A Love Letter to Whiskey included a foreward from the author, letters, and a novella titled "Love, Whiskey" at the end with scenes from the original story in Jamie's POV and an extended epilogue. Obviously, I had to grab a copy as soon as it was brought to my attention, and I'm so glad I did. I enjoyed every bit of the bonus content!I read romance because it’s fun to fall in love. And with romance books, I get to do it over and over. I get to be different types of lovers, I get to feel the heartbreak of love and the successes. Love is the most powerful and real emotion we feel, and I think it’s sort of magical that we can experience some of the greatest loves of all time through books” Timing is a hell of a thing. In the end, that's what it all comes down to. The potency of an attraction or the purity of a connection mean very little if you're on separate journeys. You and I were a perfect fit, we were, there was just too much distance between us to see it."

I shrugged, “Just makes sense. You’re practically whiskey on legs, anyway. The color of your hair, your eyes, the way you smell — it’s like your spirit drink."But wait, isn’t this what you’ve always wanted?” B smiled at me, waiting for me to tell her she was right. And maybe, had this been eighteen-year-old me, I would have. But I knew the truth now. While it was nice to get Jamie's side of their romance to clear up just a couple of things, it was all too redundant, which irritated me. It ended nicely, albeit a bit dragged out. Overall, I really enjoyed the story. I highly recommend you read this book if you have it sitting in your tbr pile. Emotional, passionate, intense, all consuming and overall hardest romances to read. But SO worth it. It was a journey for love that you will feel from ALL angles. I shrugged, using a spoon to break up a large ice chunk before replacing the top on the blender and turning it on again. “Just makes sense. You’re practically whiskey on legs, anyway. The color of your hair, your eyes, the way you smell — it’s like your spirit drink.” B and Jamie's friendship and relationship was everything and they were so right for each other and yet so wrong. Their friendship was endearing and it started because of their love for music and surfing and they were each other's comfort person. Their attraction to each other was palpable like damn it was love mixed with lust. Whether they were sad or happy they just wanted to share that thing first with each other. They fit so well together in each other's life but they were just in denial for years. They blamed it on timing but timing has always been right for them they just ignored it. And I get why B needed time because she was dealing with grief and she couldn't be together with Jamie at that point the way he wanted her to be but that man always loved her and waited for her for years and when it was her time to wait for him she didn't. And that part literally shattered my heart because he deserved that happiness and he wanted it with her.

Ten stars for this brilliantly written love story. 𝐈𝐭'𝐬 𝐫𝐚𝐰. 𝐈𝐭'𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥. 𝐈𝐭'𝐬 𝐟𝐥𝐚𝐰𝐞𝐝. My personal favorite part was getting a glimpse into Jamie and B's happily ever after. If I'm being honest, I would have liked to see even more than we did, but beggars can't be choosers and all that. 😂 On this episode, Willow links up with bestselling author and beautiful human being, Kandi Steiner. Kandi opens up a wealth of insight into her personal journey as well as some incredibly helpful ideas for aspiring or established writers. I think, my first mistake, was going into this with high hopes, I've heard it was so good I wouldn't be able to put it down, that the angst was phenomenal and I wouldn't regret it, and as a self-proclaimed angst-whore there wasn't much to be said to convince me.... This book thaught me to be careful who I trust next time. Five years ago, I published A Love Letter to Whiskey. I just knew something was different with this one. It was real, raw, emotional, and absolutely excruciating to write.⁣

Words don’t get written from a heart that’s never felt. They come from pain, from love, from unspeakable depths — and they were my only release.” these lyrics from billie eilish’s song “tv” sum up this entire book and my feelings after reading it. i wanted a book that was so raw and filled with so many emotions and this book gave all that and more. i don’t know how to let go. also no one can tell me that b and jamie aren’t real omg. i refuse to believe otherwise. this book consumed me from start to finish. i was literally addicted. just as addicted as b and jamie were to each other…😩i’ve received a lot of love letters from my bf. the most beautiful love letters. my favorite love letters. “a love letter to whiskey” and “love, whiskey” are now added to my favorite love letters. that’s how much i loved this book and these stories. like my love letters…i’ll cherish b’s and jamie’s love letters to each other just as much as i cherish my own🫶🏼 This was, hands down, one of THE most frustrating and exhausting books I've read this year if not ever. The main character is DEFINITELY on of THE most annoying, and she just keeps getting worse and worse. i read romance because it’s fun to fall in love. and with romance books, i get to do it over and over. i get to be different types of lovers, i get to feel the heartbreak of love and the successes. love is the most powerful and real emotion we feel, and i think it’s sort of magical that we can experience some of the greatest loves of all times through books.”It was just him - the old friend, the easy smile, the twisted solace wrapped in a glittering bottle.
