About this deal

The formula of the Puma Future Z 1.3 has remained the same as its predecessor – a boot that fits most foot shapes through an adaptable midfoot. The adaptability comes from the compression material covering the midfoot and Puma has invested more on that front. The compression band, officially named FUZIONFIT+, covers the entire midfoot up to the lace area and the mouth of the boot. About two thirds of the boot is covered in FUZIONFIT+. Designed for tomorrow’s superstars, these are the children’s versions of the Future, so players can wear boots that look like their favourite stars on pitch, but at a price point to keep parents happy. Both PWRTAPE and PWRPRINT tech sit through the chassis, providing extra support for the player and durability for the long run. The clue’s in the name with the Future: it’s a boot designed to push the boundaries of what’s possible in football, maximising your agility so you can make match-winning plays. It’s not a deal breaker but I’d like the TPU coating to be thinner and to have a little more knitted material on that upper to provide a more luxurious touch on the Puma Future Z. I did a Reus – I went laceless

Putting on the boot isn’t a chore despite how small the mouth looks. All you need to do is to loosen the top laces and in goes your feet. The Puma Future Z fits perfectly width and length wise when I went half a size down. Those with super wide feet should go true to size but for everyone else, go half down. The boots feel light on feet at 220g in a US 9 and you’d be hard-pressed to hear anyone having issues with its weight or how they fit especially when you take your first steps in them.

Puma Future

Forefoot has no structure and feels extremely soft and pliable; comfortable feel favourite part of Jay Mike about the Future The first time I put the boots on, I thought the compression band was tight around my midfoot – if it was a little tighter, the band would have caused cramping in my feet. Within a couple of minutes of light jogging and warm ups, my concerns and the tightness melted away. The compression band is comfy AF. The Puma Future Z is all about mobility

For one, the technology within the 1.4 (most advanced) model of Future is innovative and well thought out.

Nike launch the Peak Ready Pack

The original Puma King has been one of the world’s finest football boots since 1966 (great year). But this Puma King is an update on that classic. Previous Future compression band feels too concentrated on the midfoot; compression in new Future Z 1.3 feels evenly spread out It is impressive how many layers it seems that PUMA have been able to hide under the hood of this boot without it being overly bulky or making the touch super dampened, but maybe we could have done without a few of the textures on the upper to let us be a bit closer to the ball.

The latest iteration involved a compression band to adapt to your foot shape, evolving from the first concept of infinite lacing options. This greatly improved the boot with an improved fit but I found the touch on the ball to feel pretty… meh. Secondly, there’s not really anything about the 4.1 that has us ditching our preferred boots. Is it a quality release? Yes. Would we consider it a good boot? Absolutely, but we're still unsure who it's for. Perhaps if Puma could shed some excess on the upper and bring the touch to a more premium level or really give us something that would shine during play, then this boot could easily help PUMA have a roster that could challenge the brands around the big cat.

Puma Ultra SL

The compression bands held my feet firm and pivoting around in the Z soleplate is effortless, even on artificial ground (AG). Puma’s firm ground (FG) boots tend to be quite AG friendly and the Puma Future Z is no exception, earning our seal of approval for AG pitches. The concept began in 2018 with the Future NETFIT and its lace-how-you-like customisable closure system. Then we had the Future Z with its trademark midfoot band and soleplate bridge, followed by the Future Ultimate, which uses PWRTAPE tech on the upper to offer targeted support. The goal is the same with every Future: to enable players to move unrestricted. The only limit is your imagination. If you’re a fan of an old school, no-nonsense football boot, these are probably not for you. Puma Kings they are not. They’re insanely loud and lairy, graffiti-strewn and very light. They honestly feel like they weigh as much as a birthday card. The Puma Ultra is becoming increasingly popular within world football, top names such as *deep inhale* Christian Pulisic, Antony, Raphaël Varane, Harry Maguire, Olivier Giroud, Cody Gakpo, Kyle Walker, Aleksandar Mitrović and Oleksandr Zinchenko, are all wearing them.

The forefoot and the base of the upper are protected by a thin silicone layer to protect the knitted upper from wear and tear. A new feature that comes with the layer are soft embossed spikes on the outer foot – presumably for grip during dribbles and for those outer foot passes. For all these new materials and knit, the boot is pretty light at 225g in a US 9. Has sleek shape with low toe box; less foam than Future Z 1.4 but still very comfortable and welcoming This boot model is certainly one of the most underrated creations in recent times and it often appears in our best football boots of the year list too. Puma Future technology The Puma Ultra is the flagship speed boot of the Puma range. It’s built to be lightweight, flexible and explosive when it comes to acceleration. The biggest name slipping into Puma Future is Brazilian superstar, Neymar. His international teammates Thiago Silva and Ederson also trust them. The boots were designed with the help of staff from some of the top clubs in world football to ensure they have the “optimal” stud arrangement, including a middle stud at the pivot point of the foot to help facilitate rapid changes of direction. The latest Puma Future goes through the numbered system of takedowns. From 1.4 being the best they have to offer, through to 4.4 containing the lowest quality materials.
