About this deal

Maybe if it was less expensive, it would be easier, but as it stands, I can’t recommend this mousepad. In a nutshell: the Logitech G740 is a mousepad that offers a rather restricted glide, and it does so at a thickness of 5 millimeters. For one, a thicker pad (usually) does a better job at ‘filtering out’ surface inconsistencies on the desk that it’s placed on. We bought the mousepad with our own money anyway, so you can rest assured I wouldn’t hesitate to rip into Logitech if something was amiss. I wouldn’t exactly say that the thickness of the pad comes into play when looking at its performance (aside from being better at covering up desk imperfections) due to the firm foam, so if you don’t like a thick pad you’re probably best off looking at the G640 (or the extended G840) but if you want a thick mousepad with the features mentioned above, this could be your dream pad.

Knowing that some designs and patterns can interfere with sensor performance, the G640 cloth mouse was designed for consistent performance. The Logitech G640 focuses on control, which explains why it is a popular choice for pro gamers that spend more time with shooters such as Valorant and CSGO. This definitely isn’t a mousepad that feels as if it’s totally letting you run free with your mouse, so to say, but it also isn’t a dedicated control pad if you ask me. If you’ve read any of my previous mousepad reviews, then you’ll know that a major pet peeve for me is getting a rolled-up mousepad package. I didn’t feel any discomfort whatsoever during my testing, and the mousepad remained in place at all times thanks to the textured rubber base and the weight of the pad.

Apparently, Logitech’s G640 mousepad is one of the most popular mousepads among pros that play Valorant.

Performance-wise, if you’re looking for a mousepad with great control, and that’s all that matters to you, then it would be easy to recommend this one. It gives you a good amount of real estate to move your mouse around, which is all that really matters in that regard. The above is exacerbated by the relatively low amount (in proportion to its overall glide characteristics) of stopping power. It’s definitely not soft like the foam that you find on pads that are partially made for that kind of usage (like the soft versions of Artisan pads, or the Lethal Gaming Gear Saturn Pro, for example) but it’s not meant to be either. There’s not much to say about it, which is probably a good thing because it also means there isn’t really anything wrong with it.
