About this deal

The band has shot to popularity in the UK following their debut album, Gorillaz , and have been named "World's Most Successful Virtual Band" according to the Guiness Book of Records. The back cover of the book features Jamie's interpretation of what all of the band would look like combined. It covers the band from 2000 and their first EP, Tomorrow Comes Today through their 2006 tour ending at the Apollo Theater. As far as I can tell, this at least gets all the content right, even if the experience of leafing through that beautiful hardcover is lost. As a long time fan of Gorillaz, I enjoy watching, listening, and reading anything they come up with.

However, the audiobook remains incomplete, as only the first few chapters of the book were ever narrated. Featuring brand new art from and designed by Jamie Hewlett, this is the full story of Murdoc, 2D, Noodle and Russel Hobbs for the first time.J'ai acheté le livre en état "Neuf, je l'ai reçu avec une petite marque de Cutter sur le-devant la couverture, des marques de colles sur lesquels se sont déposés de la poussière, je trouve ça juste dommage qu'il y ait ses quelques petits défauts. Rise of the Ogre is an autobiography about the virtual band Gorillaz, ostensibly written by the four band-members in collaboration with (actual) Gorillaz musician and official scribe Cass Browne. The book blends fact and fiction throughout, interspersing commentary from the band members with actual quotes from their creators, collaborators and critics. Get the accompanying DVD Slowboat to Hades and the new vinyl figures from Kid Robot out now as well if you're a die hard fan like meself! You discover so many things about the band through a funny, well-written story and the illustrations are fabulous.

It's really a piece unlike any other and it is such a shame there's no sequel (even if the Gorillaz Almanac seems to be in a somewhat similar vein). At the front of the book, there is a ‘Demon Disclaimer’ stating the information is not all true, ‘especially the stuff Murdoc says’. Brilliant history (fictional) of the band Gorillaz, for the really avid fans, packed full of gorgeous illustrations of the band by Jamie Hewlett. It contains previously unknown secrets of the band, such as future plans of the movie, new and rare art by Gorillaz co-creator Jamie Hewlett, the "low down" on Kong Studios, their headquarters, and the story of the truth behind the " El Mañana" video. It has the back stories of all the members and how they came together, and glimpses of the possible future of the band. Thank you for preserving this excellent book - I have many great memories of checking this out from the library in high school over and over again and using it to piece together the lore behind a band I loved.
