About this deal

Once per turn, the active player may spend 2 to perform an additional action, either A or B End Of The Active Player's Turn The dice face are cleverly contained in a cardboard train with two levels. This area is referred to as the Sanctuary where you can buy dice face, and the Gardens where you can obtain them through cards. During play this can sit in the box next to the main board (The Islands) meaning everything you could possibly need is nice and close, or you can just lay it on the table. Subsequent players will take one less gold on their first turn. This gives the first player a headstart because other players will still have opportunities to earn more gold. The crux of the game is rolling a pair of customisable dice to gather resources and victory points, which can be traded for new dice faces and ability cards, allowing you to earn slightly more resources and points, and so on. When you roll a sun advance or a moon advance, move one space forward in the labyrinth. In case of a crosspath, you choose which path to take.

After taking a divine blessing you will activate any appropriate cards, and then take an action which equates to a visit the Sanctuary or the Islands. In addition to bonuses, there are also 'special paths' on the board. If a player lands on a spot with an additional path and moves in the same directions as the arrows on it, one must follow that direction. Some spaces have treasure chests. When you reach a treasure chest first, choose 10 glory points, 4 sun shards or 4 moon shards. Other players who reach this chest can only receive the lower reward.

CONCLUSION

All of that to say that Dice Forge does a great job of making me think long and hard about dice. Modification The production quality remains very high. In fact, the new box becomes part of the original artwork from the base game. This is certainly a game that you can show to less gamey friends and say: “Look at the beautiful thing!” They will have to nod in agreement, without doubt. The active player can spend two sun shards to perform one of the actions above (Offering to the Gods or Heroic Feat).

Once you obtain a card, you place it face-down beside your inventory board. If a card has a symbol on it, you must complete the action as described. Some card symbols activate a specific condition, and other symbols can provide a benefit or points. Now, it must be said you always know when the end is nigh in Dice Forge, but Rebellion introduces effects that can push your opponents towards the dark side! Yes, we’ve got some conflict here, which has been missing from the original. I mean, it’s not Epic Spell Wars level but… it’s nice to have a pop and stops your opponents from getting too complacent. Final Thoughts on Dice Forge: Rebellion At the end of step 4 , the active player's turn ends immediately (whether or not he performed an extra action). If the active player moves his Hero pawn to a portal that is already occupied by another player's Hero pawn, the other player moves his Hero pawn to his starting portal and immediately receives a divine blessing, as compensation. To add more challenge, you may randomly select, for each location, which one of the two sets is used for the game.

When you earn points from each roll, you will place the benefit marker in the correct position on your Hero inventory. Each player can earn a total of 12 gold, 6 sun, or 6 moon shards throughout the game. That’s not to say the game is long, as it finishes in around 45 minutes, but it feels like it should be shorter. In fact, this is one of the few games where I think a digital implementation would greatly improve it, as you’d be able to get a game done in about 5 minutes. You begin with a light die with five single faces and one sun shard side. Your dark die has only one moon shard, a 2-point face, and all other single-faced sides. Two-Player Game In 2017, Libellud (creators of beautifully designed games with a certain Gallic charm) released Dice Forge. Designed by Regis Bonnassee, I kind of got a little besotted with it. (Though, to be honest, I get a little besotted with any game I demo - I am a serial mono-gamer.) The Sun Shard cards include an Elder, Wild Spirits, Guardian’s Owl, Guardian’s shield, or a Celestial Ship. Other cards included are a Gorgon, the Tritan, the Mirror of the Abyss, the Sphinx, and the Cyclops. These cards list specific earnings and vary by card.

Forging a Die Face: Remove a die face that you want to replace, using the new die face as a lever. Then attach the new face to the empty side of the die and place the removed die face near your Inventory. Winning is not determined by getting through the labyrinth, the victor is still the one with the most victory points. However, the addition of an, albeit small, board adds a welcome new dimension to the game. The game comes with one of the best inserts that I have seen in games. Everything has its place and it all fits neatly in to the box. The box itself becomes part of the game with the Temple Board (which holds all the dice faces) sitting on the base of the box (called the Foundations).Keep in mind, some of the die faces are associated with specific cards. Depending on the cards you selected to use at the start of the game, some of the die faces may or may not be available. Heroic Feat Cards Finally, he places the card facedown near his Hero Inventory in one of three piles, according to its effect type: Remove the Temple from its sleeve and place it on top of the Foundations. Place the sleeve aside for the rest of the game. Maybe you want to spend some Sun or Moon Shards that you saved up on performing Heroic Feats? This happens on the board in the middle of the table. By spending shards, you defeat different animals and creatures that give you a “reinforcement effect”. This can may allow you to roll a die again for a bonus, give you a specialty die face or let you trade gold for Glory Points. There are lots of options on the board and saving up for just the right card is really rewarding. Sadly fire and moon have issues also. Fire has perk you can spend fir extra card buying actions and costs more than moon. And moon gets slightly different return on cards but otherwise is not special. If you only have 2 resources to buy cards with both need to have special features. Moon could have been spend for extra market buys or allow you to convert any gold, fire or moon into each other ect. You basically have 2 resource types that dont mix. Gold for dice faces and fire and moon for cards.
