About this deal

I have some difficulty with the overall anatomy of the body, but this book is so detailed that I can just open it whenever I'm stuck in a particular body part. An “illuminating” (Daily Mail, London) exploration of the second generation of the iconic Bloomsbury Group who inspired their elders to new heights of creativity and passion while also pushing the boundaries of sexual freedom and gender norms in 1920s England. In this book, Michel Lauricella presents both his artistic and systematic methods for drawing the human body--with drawing techniques from the ecorche (showing the musculature underneath the skin) to sketches of models in action.

Rather than going the traditional route of memorizing a repertoire of poses, Lauricella instead stresses learning this small collection of forms, which can then be combined and shaped into the more complex and varied forms and postures we see in the living body. I like the way the book feels and handles, and have used quite a few pages to really get to grips with bone, muscle and movement. The difference is in this book there's more breakdown into the different parts of the body, muscles, bone structure and how the different parts work together. This book is some of the most easy to follow anatomy, it's really straight forward, great for people who are starting out, it shows you the basic understanding of muscles and skeletons and break them down to basic forms. This small, portable book presents a unique perspective on the head, face, and neck for artists to study and implement in their drawing work.

Whether your interest is in figure drawing, fine arts, fashion design, game design, or creating comic book or manga art, you will find this helpful book filled with actionable insights. It doesn't teach you how to add muscle, but you understand where fat accumulates in the body and how curvatures and certain parts should look. In this book, Michel Lauricella presents both his artistic and systematic methods for drawing the human body—with drawing techniques from the écorché (showing the musculature underneath the skin) to sketches of models in action. In more than 1,000 illustrations, the human body is shown from a new perspective—from bone structure to musculature, from anatomical detail to the body in motion.

In 1943, after being asked by his daughter why she couldn’t immediately see the photograph he had just taken, American inventor and scientist Edwin H. Morpho is a rich, fascinating, and helpful book that can go with you everywhere on your sketching journey. The book shows multiple times how to take a shape of a person’s pose, make a skeletal figure, and then add the meat and muscles. The sketching style is loose but precise and this feels like what a teacher would draw when explaining the subject. What sets this apart from other anatomy or figure drawing books is its amount of invented drawing poses. There is not a lot of text with discussion of attachment points or range of motion or joint descriptions; rather it is full of well executed drawings that allow an artist to understand the structure of the human body AND offer a master class in line drawing. The typical approach to teaching anatomy and the sketching of the human form most often focuses on the skeleton and musculature. Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. In this book, artist and teacher Michel Lauricella simplifies the human body into basic, synthetic shapes and forms, offering profound insight for artists of all kinds, sparking the imagination and improving one's observational abilities. This has a lot of drawings of muscles in action at different angles for different positions of limbs and body parts.

Michel Lauricella received his education at Paris's École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts (National School of Fine Arts). In these books, Michel Lauricella presents both his artistic and systematic methods for drawing the human body— with drawing techniques from the écorché (showing the musculature underneath the skin) to sketches of models in action. Still, now that I’ve received the larger ones, I can see I’m going to need the smaller ones in my library. I draw as often as possible and nothing beats a real life model, but this is a good book for practising and working out where various muscles etc go. This small, portable book presents a unique perspective on the human body for artists to study and implement in their drawing work.In Morpho: Fat and Skin Folds, artist and teacher Michel Lauricella presents a unique approach to learning to draw the human body. He has been teaching morphology for over twenty years, first at the Émile Cohl school in Lyons, then at the city of Paris's Ateliers des Beaux-Arts, the Gobelins school in Paris, Lisaa in Paris, and the Atelier in Angoulême. No es un libro de anatomía riguroso, ni tampoco un tutorial encuadernado sobre como dibujar la figura humana, pero funciona muy bien desde la pedagogía de hacer primero y descubrir para qué después.
