About this deal

Most users will not be able to actually feel the difference between the two modes, though the brightness reduction means that you will probably have to set the brightness to 100 in a dark room to compensate. There are eight Picture modes, including Standard and Movie presets, three gaming presets (FPS1, FPS2, and RTS), and three customizable presets (Gamer1, Gamer2, and Gamer3).

The key takeaway here is that the graphics card and monitor are both synced up to one another - the monitor doesn't have the limitations imposed by a rigid, fixed-rate scanning routine. The monitor’s base has a nice red hole cut into it, through which your cables can be draped if you’re so inclined. I went with standard and tried to gently amend out the things I didn't like and put in the things I did.

Unfortunately, display luminance isn’t quite as good, with a fairly large offset of around 20% in the first quarant for all but the highest brightness settings.

White and Grey shades show up far better than on my old monitor, some sites look very different now. The default value set by BenQ is 10, which resulted in a slightly washed out image after calibration. So, i just bought my new BenQ XL2430t and i've found this amazing forum while looking for some settings for the monitor itself. Information about the maximum vertical viewing angle, within which the image on the screen is of acceptable quality. The display of third-party trademarks and trade names on this site does not necessarily indicate any affiliation or the endorsement of PCMag. The measurements were taken with a brightness setting of approximately 120cd/m², which is suitable for most dark/dimly-lit rooms.

The XL2430T we’re looking at today corrects that flaw with a healthy maximum output of over 360cd/m 2. I reinstalled Left 4 Dead 2 from Steam for something I knew would give me all of the frames in the world to really test out the performance; and sure enough it is one smooth experience.BenQ XL2430 24 inch 144 Hz e-Sports Monitor (Black eQualiser, Height Adjustable Stand, S-Switch, Colour Vibrance) - Dark Grey. For those that read our review on the XL2720Z, we mentioned a special mode that BenQ has included in some of their gaming monitors, labeled as “Instant Mode”. Of course, you would need a PC capable of outputting a native 144hz refresh rate to take advantage of lower input lag values. There actually wasn’t much adjustment necessary in this regard; I simply reduced the red and blue values by one tick to 99, and left the green value at 100. The aluminum stand certainly stands out from the typical plastic construction seen in most monitors today.

The XL2430T also includes a redesigned S-Switch, which was one of my favorite features of the previous XL2720Z gaming monitor that I reviewed. The XL2720Z has it built-in, though you can’t adjust the pulse width without a special utility from BlurBusters. The maximum number of colors, which the display is able to reproduce, depends on the type of the panel in use and color enhancing technologies like FRC.

There’s a bit of colour shift at extreme angles, but otherwise things are quite good; you can certainly sit off-angle and still have a good-looking display.
