About this deal

SNOT brackets hold the wings in place firmly, and a special mention goes to the SNOT-mounted 1x4 bows, attached cleverly via a headlight brick and a 1x1 brick with side stud. These are attached to common parts, so there was no difficult application decision for me at all here - Benny HAS to have his LL 929 markings! In total, the number of vehicles included in the set is four: not only do you have the main spaceship and Robo Police interceptor, but the spaceship's detachable wing flyers each have their own cockpit into which you can place your minifigures. The scratched up logo on his chest is in worse shape than anything from my childhood collection, and I’m not sure I can see myself using it in a creation. The film-strip decorations here diverge in a pattern resembling a movie clapperboard; the space between is bisected by the LEGO-ish fencing, and the resulting halves filled by the ship and its various accessories respectively.

The instruction steps are nicely paced, and throughout there's the feeling that you're making progress; though some steps have you adding only one part, it's usually an important part. the cockpit includes stickers that go on 1X6 tiles which feature miniature versions of those original control panels. The numbered stickers you see above, things like latch, and unfortunately, the classic space logo on the back wings, are all stickers. Anyone who has played either of those games may not unable to get that thought out of their brain until they fit one together.

I was happy to sacrifice the four Blue tail parts; in this instance my main anxiety about applying the stickers was using these gorgeous Classic Space logo stickers when I might want them for something else! I generally apply all the stickers on my sets, but these should make for an easy exception for the sticker-averse. Compared to Benny’s ship, it’s rather tiny, but it got enough attention that it’s not merely a throw-away model.

week Turnaround( If you have chosen the option to have your item fast-tracked or on a six weeks turnaround, please note that if your item fails the grading process this fee is non-refundable. Some mention that they're easy to follow, while others say that they are very complicated and take a lot of time to put together. As someone who hates keeping track of loose pieces, I think it's awesome that the villain's gun is meant to be clipped on to the back of his ship when he's in the cockpit. Opening hatches, detachable ships, a rather one-sided battle with a dinky black ship, shooty things and extendable wings - the set is a load of fun. If you're interested in going down the very serious purist route with your own builds, check out these detailed Neo Classic Space rules and review the amazing models on this (sadly defunct) site.

Unless you can point out a clear instance in the review where a link to another site would be better served by a similar link to LUGNET, I don't see why reviews like this should need to reference that site. Would have been nice as said if there had been some sort of land based vehicle in the set , but its a sweet set as it is, a good parts pack for any neo-space builder. Given that time is running out for this set (until the updated version comes with the sequel), the question is, should you drop some money on this 940-part set (or on a second one, or third, or forth)?

I was really worried it wouldn't capture the intangible magic of Classic Space and just leave me feeling like it was any other modern-day Space set but in blue/grey/trans-yellow. Sifting through bags of parts to find the right one is something of a chore, compared to my sorted collection. At that moment, I knew that the movie was going to be something different from what LEGO had given us before. Two of the new Light Bluish Gray elements in this set are parts that I've blogged about recently; the 2X2 corner tile (Element ID 6065874 | Design ID 14719) of which there are two and, less excitingly, the amended 1X8X2 arch with 'raised' curve (Element ID 6079722 | Design ID 16577). If I have one concern it's that the ship might be a little too large for small hands to handle easily, but I'm sure TLG have tested for this! The spaceship was then last seen when Emmet tried to move to get the Piece of Resistance so he could still save the Lego World and his friends. Whether TLG have deliberately avoided using 2x3 slopes (which did appear with the CS logo) to prevent flooding the classic market is anyone's guess.

Although instructions are easy to understand, this set might take younger enthusiasts a while to build. This set’s Emmet has wrapped his face and the Piece of Resistance in foil, which makes for a pretty bizare looking minifig head, and a pretty awesome silver brick. I grew up with Space Legos as a kid in the late 70's and early 80's, and really no Lego sets since have been as "cool" to me (not even the Star Wars UCS sets that are pretty darn nice). Thanks to this set, not only will a new generation of kids love Classic Space but also TFOLs and AFOLs will have a bunch of excellent Space parts with which to create awesome spaceships. To cut down on the length of the review, I've chosen to show the build process via a series of thumbnail images, with a few larger pictures to highlight interesting techniques.Just like the ultimate Classic Space ship, 928 Space Cruiser and Moonbase (released as 497 Galaxy Explorer in the US), you gotta put some groundwork in before the really fun stuff starts. Highlights of this selection for me are the four black inverted bows, new to me but in several sets since last year; the gun with clip, which features in several Movie sets; and the Piece of Resistance, new here in (I think) pearl dark grey Flat Silver. Flickr is full of inspiration but of course, what New Elementary Classic Space post would be complete without mentioning the inspiration you'll find in Pete Reid and Tim Goddard's LEGO Space: Building the Future ? I presume these are repair droids, judging by how they are stowed away, but I guess they could be multi-purpose.
