I really enjoyed The Serial Killers wife, so I was so grateful to receive a copy of the next in the series The Serial Killers daughter. The events never seemed rushed and the characters all had personalities that were made relatable to you! The book keeps you hooked to it, I just had to finish it in one sitting! I loved Alice Hunter's first book The Serial Killer's Wife and had very high expectations for this new book. Jen and Mark have had a few ups and downs in their marriage, mainly because of secrets, and the affair that Mark had a year ago with Olivia.

It’s times like these I wish he’d made use of the ample space in our house to set up his office here – it would save a lot of bother as well as keep business costs down, but he was adamant he needed a place away from the home, somewhere he could separate his work and family life. So, for now, his workplace is in Exeter, about a forty-minute drive away. The plus with having my vet practice just on the outskirts of the village is that I’m there in minutes – no rush-hour traffic to cope with; no road diversions or traffic jams – so I usually take the kids. Because this morning hasn’t begun as planned, the early start is out of the window. Be there in a minute. Can you hurry the kids along for me?’ I do my best to keep my voice steady, despite the fear rising within me. Why is my ring missing, and why is there mud under my nails? It gradually becomes clear that neither of Mark nor Jenny has been entirely honest about their past: Mark has failed to mention impulsive acts following excess alcohol intake; Jenny has refused to talk about her family, never mentioning her manipulative, controlling mother or her serial killer father.

Isn’t he always declaring, The day is what you make of it?’ Too late, I realise I should’ve corrected her, praised her instead of letting her think she’d done a bad job, but my mind is not quite here. I need to make sure it is, though, because in twenty minutes I’m going to be operating on our first animal with Samir and Vanessa. There is no doubt that I loved this book. I cannot wait to lose myself in the author’s other book very soon. Just like The Serial Killer's wife I had difficulty doing anything other than reading this book once I had started it! I remember reading Hunter's first book, The Serial Killer's Wife- I listened to the entire audiobook in one day, which I have rarely managed to do. So when the Daughter book came on NetGalley too, I was ecstatic to get approved and see how it compared.

Things start to unravel for Jenny, who is concerned that she will become chief suspect and have her past revealed.All-in-all, I would give this read 4 stars. I would recommend it to you if you enjoy dark, psychological thrillers though please do look up the trigger warnings beforehand. Who knows Jenny’s secret? Who is responsible for the missing woman and what role does her husband have in all of this? Alice Hunter is a genius!! Stand up and take a bow because you are truly amazing!! Wow what a book!!! I’m unsure where to start with this one, I definitely don’t know how a written review will do this justice. However, I am probably in the minority (so don't take just my opinion), but I couldn't wait for this book to be over.
