About this deal

Once again it performed great! It did its job perfectly. The claim of 100% waterproof held up. I had my doubts, but this poncho really will keep you bone dry with it on. The Cleverlite is the cheapest option. There’s no zipper to get the hood tight to your chin, but it still has thumbs loops and is waterproof like the Zipster. I didn’t think no zipper would be a deal breaker, but it was. Without that zipper, the Cleverlite’s hood doesn’t fit as well under a helmet, and the hood would certainly blow right off without a helmet on. So we chose the mid-range option, the CleverZipster! Compared to most rain gear, rain capes allow airflow so you won’t get sweaty. The bottom of the cape stays open so that air can move. You’ll receive compliments wearing this cape whether you’re on or off the bike. It’s a classy look. I love the Cleverhood’s hood! My face is soaked from the cheeks down, but my eyes are dry thanks to that hood.

There are a variety of methods to dealing with rain while cycling, but I wanted to try the poncho approach. I began researching rain capes and ponchos hoping to find one that keep me dry and not make me look goofy. The three-layered design consists of a TPU coating, durable polyester and Tricot Knit, making it fully waterproof, robust and breathable. It weighs 460 g and offers a custom fit (which is useful given the one-size option). The only other negative of this cape is the cost. It’s pricey. This is the type of cape that you get and wear for the rest of your life. It’s top quality, but you’ll pay the price for it.

This company clearly thought deeply about what would make a great rain cape. Here are some of the characteristics of this product: Buttons –Three buttons down the middle to make it easy to get your head in, but also useful to button it up to keep the water out. On each side of the poncho there’s three buttons to pop together if you’d like to make sleeves for your arms. I found this great for walking around, but too restrictive while riding my bike. The only downside of the People’s Poncho is the cost. It’s not the cheapest way to keep yourself dry while cycling, but in my opinion its benefits are worth the extra money. There are five colours to choose from, including ‘camouflage’ and ‘fisherman’s yellow’, giving you that all-important high visibility option.Available in one size, this poncho comes with a number of useful features to ensure flexibility and a more comfortable ride.
