I struggled to follow the jumping timeline occasionally and didn’t connect with any of the characters. Discovering about the past and dreaming of the future, there are so many twists and turns in this magical adventure, some touching moments and some heart wrenching ones too. Both have, what appears to be a perfect family, a successful husband, one son and one daughter each. There are open schoolbags by the door, phones charging on the counter, doors on the drive and in the garage, even the smell of breakfast being prepared, but no sign of Gray or Piper Holden, or their children Riva and Artie, apart from a message on a mirror and a misting of what appears to be blood on the chandelier…. The characterisations were excellent even though many of the characters have the reader fooled for a while.

I think the blurb doesn’t really match the story line, I think it was obvious, I wasn’t blown away and certainly not impressed.Is Riva , the teen, the golden girl at the exclusive school which she attends, or is that just a facade as well?

After finding her mother’s Book of Shadows, Carlie was able to piece together her mother’s reasons for running away from home at seventeen. My favorite parts of this book were when Carlie was reading her mother's journal, what her mother experienced was written beautifully, her struggles and pain captivated both the MC and reader, a feat not easy to achieve. The narrative then switches between the weeks and days before the Holden’s disappear and the present. Piper’s marital issues; her husband’s ‘dodgy’ business dealings; a daughter who is far from perfect but, who comes across as an angel. Don’t allow yourself to type one word that doesn’t come from the character’s opinion or sensory feelings or emotions. I liked it, a lot, even if it's not as dark as I thought it would have been ( at least for me, guess my mind is kinda deviated at this point LOL). Nothing is quite as it seems and Fiona Cummins has excelled at taking that suburban utopia and gradually dispelling all the myths and supposition about just how blissful it is.

Piper's husband is Gray, his car is unusually parked on the drive, breakfast is still on their table but none of the family are present. Credibility was a bit stretched in the second half, as a series of shocking twists rained down on me, and I felt the tentative emotional ties I had built with the characters fray and snap in the wake of these. Today I’m delighted to share my thoughts on Into The Dark, the brand new thriller from Fiona Cummins. What I love about this authors writing is the way the characters live on the page, in this case we have a deeply disturbing group dynamic going on that makes Into The Dark a classic page turner with bite. The poor, misunderstood new guy (with a secret, of course) who doesn't fit in til he finds the token ostracised female (trying to prove that she deserves to be there despite being a woman) and they have an 'instant connection'.Quando solicitei o arc desse livro imaginei encontrar páginas e mais páginas de matanças, mas fui enganada e não de uma forma ruim, já que encontrei aqui uma face de um relacionamento que eu não imaginava, e que mesmo que seja estranho me prendeu a cada página querendo saber mais e mais onde isso ia parar.

After reading The Neighbour by Fiona Cummins and it becoming one of my favorite thrillers of all time, I was very excited to pick up her newest thriller! With tragedy and heartbreak around the corner, Carlie will need all her strength and wisdom to overcome what lays ahead.But when the ship he’s traveling on is knocked out of hyperspace in a galactic-wide disaster, Reath finds himself at the center of the action. Crime lovers less jaded than I might get a kick out of it, but it wasn't a great reading experience for me.
