About this deal

The writing is fantastic, the relationship develops into something truly beautiful, and the slow burn was tortuously perfect, but the history these two share is where the problems lie. But among a bouquet of perfect roses, Delilah is much like her namesake flower—unexpectedly vivid and complex—making you realize that roses are boring in comparison. Now it's 10 years later and they see each other again when Delilah's sister, Samantha, has stolen something from him. Macon Saint and Delilah Baker are childhood enemies and that hatred started from the very first moment they laid eyes on each other.

Delilah rushes to fix whatever mess her sister has made and ends up agreeing to be Macon’s new assistant and chef. But, regardless of the things I enjoyed, there were two particular things that made me enjoy this much less than I anticipated. Circumstances bring them back together and they have to spend a huge amount of time in the same space. i loved the beginning of this BEFORE the MCs got together cuz the slow burn, sexual tension, and banter was just *chef's kiss* but all in all this was just meh but in a good way.

Because who in their right mind would fall in love with an asshole that has tormented them enough to leave scars? I suspected that was the true mark of the devil: turning people into starry-eyed fools when they ought to know better. This book hits the mark of what the trope is almost immediately, showing two people who an’t stand each other, but at heart, do have things in common and even some respect for one another that hint and deeper underlying feelings. This is a slow burn romance book and I admit that I would have liked to see more intimate scenes between them. the characters are american and the story is set in the states (i believe the author is american too?

I was captivating , the writing was so good that you will fall in love immediately with the characters and you will not put it down until you finish it! I love how Kristen develops her characters and the relationships between them and the chemistry build between the couples. STARS because it was a great standalone hate to love story and I am pretty sure people will like it if they have enjoyed Kristen’s work in the past. When Billy can’t find the informant, he wonders if Kate is secretly harboring her, since the two grew close during Kate's weeks undercover. Then there is that aspect of the story line that Sam is Macon ex girlfriend which is something that I really dislike. The second she walked back into my life, I became aware of two uncomfortable but undeniable facts: I am lonely as hell, and Delilah Baker feels like home. In The Psychology of Money, award-winning author Morgan Housel shares 19 short stories exploring the strange ways people think about money. Sometimes I laughed at the jokes that I understood, but I realized I found myself smiling widely with every moment they were together. And that ultimately leads to the question that Delilah must answer for herself: can a guy who was the root cause of so much misery in her youth also turn out to be the greatest source of happiness for her as an adult? It sounds so old fashioned, but there’s also something so much more to it than boyfriend—a solidity, a sense of time and history.

They make them at the dinner table, or in a meeting room, where personal history, your own unique view of the world, ego, pride, marketing, and odd incentives are scrambled together. There is some danger of it falling into the “he only does these things because he likes you,” but this is a discussion that is had in the book, and the way it’s subverted is done fairly well, even if the later execution of the relationsihp development did leave me feeling a little cold. A couple of the interesting plot points (like the heroine’s runaway sister, the stalkers, and the hero’s dad) became anticlimactic and didn’t wrap up in a satisfying way. i just needed to see more of the enemies to lovers but the "enemies" part here seemed too light and it was just foreplay. That said, as the novel progresses you begin to see Macon’s side of the story, and feel for him too.For Delilah it wasn't the grudge that was hard to get over though but her insecurities that Macon caused and they would flare up frequently.
