About this deal

A new spin on an old classic, our Stir It Up Wireless Turntable delivers premium audio quality and lets you enjoy every sonic detail of your favourite vinyl records.

In keeping with House of Marley’s mandate of creating eco-friendly products, the Lux maintains the line’s tradition of having its plinth made from sustainable bamboo, which produces a natural and fresh look that has defined the company’s aesthetic in all its products. That's nice if the spot where the turntable fits isn't the best spot for the music itself to play from. Along the metal arm is an engraving of a lyric: “One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain”, taken from Marley's ‘Trench Town Rock’. Use of this site constitutes acceptance of our User Agreement and Privacy Policy and Cookie Statement and Your California Privacy Rights. The turntable is belt-driven, and the platter comes unattached and needs assembling, however it is not daunting as it sounds.Everything is handily packed in recycled, molded cardboard inserts that keep all the delicate parts protected. This turntable is perfect for anyone who wants a record player that looks great as well as getting the best sound out of your vinyl collection. This record player is perfect for anyone who wants a turntable that looks great and gets the best sound out of their vinyl collection. The slipmats and feed are made of the company’s Regrind silicone, which is manufactured from reclaimed manufacturing scraps that might otherwise go into a dumpster. The Get Together 2 is a fully portable Bluetooth speaker, so I placed both the turntable and speaker on separate bookshelves and didn't have to worry about any cords (though I did have to keep an eye on the battery of the Get Together 2).

The House of Marley Stir it Up has consistently, and comfortably, lived in this echelon for years, and the Lux continues the tradition with a solid-sounding, easy-to-setup and use turntable with standout looks and all kinds of connectivity options that make it perfect for beginners and beyond. The company focuses on using sustainable materials in its products; it’s a compelling feature, but one that comes at a premium.

But this one is really designed as a partner to their line of bluetooth speakers, so the sound will only ever be as good as the speaker, and bluetooth is not known for true lossless sound. House of Marley recommends the free Audacity app for Mac or PC for conversion to FLAC or MP3, but you can use any digital recording software you choose to make the recordings. Quite often records are less compressed than digital versions of the same music, which is also a reason why they can sound better.

The belt for the House of Marley Stir It Up Wireless turntable is already wrapped around the platter. The flashing light on the Bluetooth button indicates that the turntable is unable to connect to any speaker. I repeated the test with my normal (old but much more expensive) turntable, a Roksan Xerxes, to get a comparison. The replaceable AT-95E elliptical stylus takes a more complex shape than its conical counterparts, meaning it boasts a narrower profile and larger contact area. The arm does not move as freely as a top quality arm, and the fact that it operates a switch is sub-optimal; it is better to have a separate switch to turn the platter rotation on and off.
