About this deal

To be serious, I don’t really have a solution for you but must stress that, difficult as it is at the time, you must try to ignore the fact that your ‘little darling’ has escaped again and not be distracted until you have pulled up safely. This is especially so if you are on the motorway, where the most dangerous place is the hard-shoulder. Merritt manufactures car seats for children with special needs and truly understands some of the unique transportation challenges that some children have. This company also understands crash dynamics and has an attention to safety not typically found in other aftermarket products.

Crelling Harnesses - Special Needs Harness Manufacturer

Replacement for Chest Clip: Yes, it can be used in place of an existing chest clip. However, it should not be used in conjunction with an existing chest clip. The old chest clip should be fully removed before using the Houdini Stop. Size Compatibility: The Houdini Stop is designed to fit over any single-layer harness that is up to 38mm wide.

The Houdini Stop Chest Strap is a device which prevents your child from taking their arms out of their car seat straps. It consists of two simple clips joined by a length of material. The most important thing to remember is to be consistent, always insist that your child is secure in their child car seat, with the harness fastened. Please do not give in by letting your little one d travel without being safe and secure. As stated before the USA sell car seats with Houdini stop already incorporated onto the harness system. I have heard a chest clip / strap will take the emergency services longer to get my child out in an accident? Effectiveness: The Houdini Stop has a high success rate, with more than a 95% effectiveness in preventing children from escaping their harness straps. Most children are not dexterous or strong enough to manipulate the release mechanism. It's worth noting that it cannot be made 100% inescapable, as it needs to be easily released by an adult in an emergency situation. Some children may actually prefer having the Houdini Stop in place.

It can also be used with highchair and stroller harnesses to prevent children standing up and getting out. The Houdini Stop is a very useful training product for the stage where your child does not understand the importance of staying inside their harnessing. It suits younger age ranges, as an older or determined child may be able to undo this strap. Safety: The product has been crash-tested to meet AS/NZS standard 8005:2013 in both forward and rear-facing car seat situations. It has been proven safe in these tests. It's important to note that there may be cheaper copies of the Houdini Stop on the market that have not undergone these rigorous safety tests. The Houdini Stop Chest Strap is a device which prevents your child from taking their arms out of their car seat straps. It consists of two simple clips joined by a length of material. The clips connect to each of the 2 car seat straps and hold them closer together preventing your child from wriggling out.

I sympathise greatly with all who experience this ‘problem’. I find it amazing that the ‘experts’ have not so far devised a solution that actually works and does not cost the earth. Has anyone thought about using one of those animal cages? – Joke! The Houdini stop is NOT illegal in the UK. There was obvious concern that car seats are designed to be opened with one red button. Obviously the Houdini is an extra clip to the one red button release however the ambulance service have said that in the case of an accident where evacuation needs to be speedy, they will simply cut with scissors through the car seat straps & the Houdini. Far superior than having a collision where the childs upper body is unrestrained. I spoke personally to the ambulance service about it.

The Houdini Stop Chest Strap is a safety device designed to prevent children from taking their arms out of their car seat, highchair, or stroller harness straps. Here are some key points about the Houdini Stop Chest Strap:The Houdini Stop chest strap ensures the passenger stays safely and correctly positioned within their harness. Once the Houdini Stop chest strap is in place, it should stay there. The passenger cannot easily move it up or down. Explain to your little one why it's important to wear a harness and how it keeps them safe. You can even make a 'doing up the harness or belt into a song' to try and make it as fun as possible.

Houdini Stop Car Seat Chest Strap for child safety seat belt

The Houdini Stop has been officially crash tested to the AS/NZ 1754 Standard by Autoliv Australia and independently reviewed by ACRI in Australia. This revolutionary car seat chest clip has been proven not to interfere with the existing car seat harnessing in anyway and does not ride up and cause a choking hazard in a simulated accident situation. Design: It consists of two clips joined by a length of non-toxic red silicone. These clips attach to the harness straps of the car seat, highchair, or stroller to hold them closer together, preventing the child from wriggling out. Just realised that the Houdini strap is actually illegal in Europe at the moment, so scrap that idea. The clips connect to each of the 2 car seat straps and hold them closer together preventing your child from wriggling out. For younger kids, play “car” using their dolls/stuffed animals/action figures and have the child switch roles and be the mom/dad who needs to teach the child how to sit safely in their straps while the car is moving.
