About this deal

Most of the new magic items found in Glory of the Giants are rare and up, meaning they're more likely to be found by the time the party is level 5 or higher while looting ancient dungeons. Even for high-level parties facing powerful monsters, these great new magic items should prove highly useful and may spell the difference between life and death when roaming the land of giants. Vigor of the Hill Giant is one of several new feats in Bigby Presents: Glory of the Giants that branches off from the Strike of the Giants feat. That means a player must first get Strike of the Giants at level 4, then take feats like Vigor of the Hill Giant. Varied though these monsters be, most of them have one thing in common: a hefty challenge rating. This, combined with encounters designed for levels 11 and onwards, means Glory of the Giants mainly caters to high-level D&D parties. This helmet's second effect is to cast a powerful elemental bolt at an enemy for a bonus action per turn. Finally, the Helm of Perfect Potential lets the wearer spend charges to cast spells like Elemental Weapon and Wall of Fire.

Glory of the Giants The Best New DnD Monsters in Bigby Presents: Glory of the Giants

While they’re often viewed as heretical within the ordning, Evil Water giants will often keep their allegiance a secret and attempt to push their communities toward the behaviors that appease Olhydra’s lust for violence. For their service, Olhydra grants her giants the ability to breathe water, making them a threat on land as well as underwater. There’s a lot to freak out about with a frostmourn, but easily the most terrifying ability that these ghoulish giants gain is the power to turn its targets into frozen statues. A creature petrified in this way has a single hit point and will shatter if they take bludgeoning damage, killing them. Frostmourn Tactics Bigby Presents: Glory of the Giants introduces a small handful of scions, enormous incarnations of giant gods such as Surtur, Memnor, and Thrym, along with elemental "cradles" to contain them and let them sleep in peace. All of the scions are cool and scary monsters to serve as late-game boss battles for high-level parties, but the Scion of Surtur is the coolest. We will not include 3rd-party content, including content from DMs Guild, in handbooks for official content because we can’t assume that your game will allow 3rd-party content or homebrew. We also won’t cover Unearthed Arcana content because it’s not finalized, and we can’t guarantee that it will be available to you in your games. Strike of the Giants provides some on-hit damage and usually a rider effect, offering some versatility for martial classes looking to do more than damage. At PB/day uses these won’t dominate your tactics, but they do give you a fun button to push a few times per day.Because the damage is “extra damage”, it is multiplied on a critical hit. It can be very tempting to reserve Strike of the Giants for crits, but usually it’s more impactful to use it for the rider effect. Wizards of the Coast has worked hard to ensure no Giant encounter feels stereotypical or same-y. It’s clear these creatures are more than just lumbering behemoths, with no fate other than the end of an adventurer’s blade. One of them is a free longer adventure, Lost Mine of Phandelver, L1-5, the others are "one-shot" adventures, intended to be played and completed in a single session. In Bigby Presents: Glory of the Giants, your party can go all in with adventures featuring one of Dungeons & Dragons’ most iconic primordial powers, the giants. Explore the realms and enclaves of the giants themselves, take a deeper dive into their lore, and face off against a new bestiary of massive monsters in this book.

The firbolg, along with the giant-kin goliath, reminds D&D fans that not everything giant-related is enormous. Medium-sized races like firbolgs and goliaths are only distantly related to giants and aren't part of the Ordning, so they can blend into regular society while also honoring their giant ancestry. They can also derive special abilities from their giant forebears. This book follows the accounts of the prolific wizard Bigby and the knowledge he gained surrounding the giants’ roles in the worlds of Dungeons & Dragons. Let’s explore what you can expect from this sourcebook and how this colossal amount of content will grow your games! As for encounter tables, they aren’t separated by CR, meaning they’re not particularly useful for preparing a combat encounter. They also have an arbitrary “Attitude” mechanic thrown in that would be hard to account for if you were simply rolling to generate an encounter. At the end of the day, Bigby Presents: Glory of the Giantsis quite comparable to Fizban’s Treasury of Dragons, which is a solid book full of useful information when wanting to incorporate a certain monster type into your campaign.Unfortunately, these well-designed and thought-out locations are somewhat marred by the fact that the “adventure” suggestions in each location don’t have any ties to CR, which will make these resources difficult to use for newer DMs who rely on that level of guidance.
