The phone’s contrast of just 306:1 is also one of the worst I’ve seen in recent times, resulting in a washed-out viewing experience that lacks any semblance of vibrancy. Long battery life and stripped-back software are a good fit for people looking for a no-nonsense, low-upkeep Android device, but the Nokia G21 is beaten in other areas by rivals from Realme and Xiaomi. Honestly, I’m shocked that Nokia is okay with how this screen looks, and it’s a serious downside from what should have otherwise been the star of the show.
It scores 1165 in Geekbench 5, which is far lower than the ~1640 achievable in a phone featuring the Snapdragon 480.
The Nokia G21 has a lightly ridged plastic rear, one that does not try to pass itself off as glass or metal from a distance. If you don’t expect miracles from the tantalizing 50-megapixel sensor then you might come away satisfied – as long as you don’t plan to shoot video. It’s certainly not the worst screen we’ve seen on the market, but if you’re looking for a super-crisp experience, we suggest bumping up your budget a little.
The inner case is flexible for easily putting your Nokia G21 in the case without worrying about scratching your devices. The case is made from Upgraded double-sided cold-carved tempered glass which is drop-proof, explosion proof and has no need to stick phone film. The case is very durable and is transparent; the high-quality material used to make this case refuses to yellow under any circumstances. The biggest downside (although it’s by no means a deal breaker) of the G21 is unfortunately its screen.The Nokia G21’s performance is uninspiring stuff, but nothing out of line with our expectations of a handset at this end of the market. Its speaker is weak and mono, the GPU doesn’t hold up well with the most demanding titles, and you can’t play Fortnite at all – at the time of review. The Nokia G21 isn’t anything special, with a score of just 17hrs 33mins in our standardised battery test. The case is made of high quality TPU material that is flexible, thin and lightweight silicone for an exact fit of the phone.
We don’t mind this less-saturated look at all –years of reviewing phones and their cameras tends to make you more sensitive to over saturation than the opposite – but you may feel differently. The 400-nits here is more what you’d expect from a decent laptop screen; it doesn’t cut it in a phone. Sure, the first thing you’ll notice is that it’s made of plastic, but the construction is solid, with a textured rear panel and flat sides to ensure the phone fits nicely in one hand. The Nokia G21 is one of the best smartphones available in the market right now and these cases should serve their purpose well.
