About this deal

If you are looking for something to read that is fast-paced and humorous, this laugh-out-loud adventure story is the one for you!" - Books for Topics Super planning and resources! Worth paying for but thank you for letting us have it for free! Really appreciate it. : ) Lastenromaanien parhaimmistoa ja nythän pitää varata muitakin Reeven kirjoja kirjastosta. Sopivaa, nopeaa maagista seikkailua, mutta tarpeeksi simppeliä. This is a cute story. I read it in one sitting and liked it. There is a great deal of adventure and danger that Shen, Sika, and the pugs have to face. But, they do it together and help each other, and their competitors along the way.

I can't even with this lady. She knows what she's into (polar bears, winter) and she just does her. <3 This story is about a boy called Shen and a girl called Sika, who along with 66 pugs race to the top of the world. They can’t resist the chance to win and claim the prize of ‘your heart’s desire.’ Snow trolls, sea monsters and a tribe of hungry yetis stand in their way but will their 234 paw-powered sled help them be the first to get to the finish line? You need this in your life as a treat. It's cute, rather clever, has a positive message and is surprising enough. The illustrations are wonderful. I'm actually planning on getting at least one more by the same authors. It's their best book yet ... Reeve and McIntyre are a classic team ... The climax is moving and beautifully judged.' Alex O' 'Connell, 'Children's Book of the Week', The Times My seven-year-old and I have read and really enjoyed all three of Philip Reeve and Sarah McIntyre's collaborations. This was my favorite by far, which is really saying something; my seven-year-old says he loves this as much as he loved Oliver and the Seawigs (the first of them), which is also really saying something, because, as he explained, "I love Oliver a LOT." It's their best book yet ... Reeve and McIntyre are a classic team ... The climax is moving and beautifully judged." - Alex O'Connell, 'Children's Book of the Week', The Times

Very, very funny, wildly imaginative, incredibly clever, and there was one point in the climax that was so moving, it was actually hard to read out loud (to my seven-year-old, who ADORED this book and demanded that it all be read to him in less than a day!) because I was actually crying a little bit as I read. Just lovely!

If you’d like tips on how to make comics, I've has created a series of comic-making videos for Book Trust. They’re based on the Sea Monkey from Oliver and the Seawigs, but the same comic-making tips would apply to Pugs or any book or comic the children create. If you have space, have the children cut snowflakes out of paper and add them to the picture. Perhaps you could add a title along the top of the display, such as ‘Race to the Top of the World!’ Hello Yellow - 80 Books to Help Children Nurture Good Mental Health and Support With Anxiety and Wellbeing - Make a class video about the 50 different kinds of snow. Each child presents a 'snowball' and introduces that particular kind of snow to the camera. Perhaps you cut away during each short talk to pictures or comics further illustrating the snowball's capabilities. Each child could also write out the name of that kind of snow for the camera to focus on before they begin talking.
