Beautiful piece beautifully done. I have a dresser that belonged to my Great Grandparents, then Grandparents, and my parents. I was blessed enough to acquired this piece and will be doing this process to it. Can't wait for the final outcome. I will treasure it even more. My siblings are waiting for pictures as well. Thanks for the information. It will be very helpful. Enjoyed seeing your work. Have a blessed day. I dry brushed the drawer pulls and knobs with the same paint as the sideboard. The pulls looked a bit rough and flat after painting so I sealed them with General Finishes Sealer in Satin. That added a little shine and also made the pulls feel smooth instead of rough.I finally looked at the sideboard and decided it was time to see what it looked like with a coat of paint. The first thing I needed to do was sand the wood filler smooth so it was flush with the surrounding wood. I used my Ryobi battery powered sander. No cords to pull around. Wipe away any dust, apply stain to a clean rag, and coat the piece one last time, giving it that beautiful, shiny sheen. This process can also enhance the aged look and bring out the details in the wood grain. Once you’re finished, let your furniture dry for at least three days before displaying it in your home. Since antique painted furniture can be a big investment, you have to really think about what you want in a piece before deciding on one. Do you want furniture from a certain time period as a collector’s item? Perhaps you need a large antique chest to fill up some extra space, or an ornate-looking one to serve as decoration? Now you should have your piece of painted furniture all cleaned, prepped, primed, painted, sanded, and ready for sealer. One major issue that many furniture painters seem to have is that when they are painting furniture whiteis that they worry about their clear sealer turning yellow. No one wants a yellow tinge over their white painted furniture. This is my little secret that I like to do when sealing a white painted piece of furniture. Brown tones have a reputation for being "boring." These earthy hues often have a tendency to feel dull and bleak for many people. However, this is largely due to poor design execution. If used well, brown shades can enhance a room’s design and bring a new sense of vitality to a space. Brown can be a wonderful hue to add to your home if you're looking to create a luxe and vibrant environment. These rustic shades can be natural, rich, and earthy when paired with complementary colors that let this hue shine.

Then we had to figure out a way to keep the inside split as flat as possible to hold the wood filler in place and to make the panel all nice and flat without a big bump inside or out. We ended up using a two by four wedged flat against the side. The piece set like this for months while I worked on other projects. No, it didn't take that long for the wood filler to set it just took me that long to get around to it again. I usually have a shop full of furniture waiting to be painted. There was a build up of dust top and bottom, on the dust boards, and in the cabinets. The furniture repairs and cleaning to get furniture ready for painting is the most time consuming part of a furniture makeover. Very seldom do I work on a piece that is in perfect condition. You may be unsure as to which white furniture paint to use for your painted furniture project. There are so many different brands and types of paint out there.
