There is a degree of definition lost around the edges of objects in particular (a bit like free anti-aliasing, of sorts). But a good degree of detail is maintained overall and an effective sharpening filter is used. Whilst things don’t quite look like a native 27” Full HD display, the monitor certainly makes the resolution usable. You can also set a custom resolution of 2560 x 1080 (up to 100Hz via HDMI, 200Hz via DP) if you wish to use the entire screen space whilst maintaining the 21:9 aspect ratio. The monitor will run at 3440 x 1440 and the GPU will handle the scaling there. There’s therefore a greater degree of softening compared to the monitor’s own interpolation at 1920 x 1080. But it’s usable in a pinch. There’s a good reason for that size: the X35 is also the first monitor I’ve ever used that comes fully assembled. It’s literally as simple as taking it out of the box and plugging it in, assuming you’re planning on using the included stand — which you should, because it’s excellent. The monitor also offers a selection of ‘Blue Light’ LBL settings, with varying effectiveness from ‘50%’ (highest reduction) to ‘80%’ (weakest reduction). The strongest setting was particularly effective at reducing blue light output. Successively stronger settings also reduced the default brightness – brightness is fully controllable by the user in each setting and the most effective blue light reduction comes from decreasing brightness as well. We’d advise reducing this further than the default value, as long as you find it comfortable and practical to do so. Cutting blue light exposure in the hours leading up towards sleep is important due to the stimulating nature of blue light and its effect on sleep hormones. It can be more relaxing in general at other times of the day, too.

Brightness is excellent on this monitor. It achieves over 900 nits sustained in a full white window, which then increases to as high as 1100 nits for a 10% window with a slight fall off for smaller windows. The sustained performance of this panel is marginally better than the PG35VQ, as is the flash brightness: the X35 is capable of a 1140 nit full screen white flash, which melts your eyes. This thing is seriously bright.As above but slightly more effective. The image appears a bit warmer still and has a slightly stronger green tint. Default brightness also slightly lowered. Some, mostly minor, shifts in contrast and brightness are expected when viewing the screen off-axis. You’ll also notice that halos become more visible at certain skewed angles. There is no doubt that the gaming equipment manufactured by Acer is of the utmost quality. For this reason, if the Predator X35 is a bit too expensive for you, the X34 stands as a fantastic alternative. First and foremost, it is highlighted by a similar design given the 1900R curvature display and the impressive 3440x1440p resolution. If you just do basic content creation that doesn’t require professional-grade color accuracy, the Acer X35 will do fine. In our worst case test, which measures a bright zone right next to a dark zone, we achieved around double the native contrast ratio. So far, this is the best result we've seen. Touch typing can dramatically improve your typing speed and accuracy. Start by learning the proper finger placement on the home keys and which finger to use for each key, all while keeping your eyes on the screen instead of the keyboard. Single-player games like Destiny 2 and Shadow of the Tomb Raider that support HDR at a 21:9 aspect ratio were truly a sight to behold. Though there aren't a ton of HDR-ready games on shelves right now, the few that do exist will look their absolute best on a beast of a monitor like this. Beyond that, Spider Plants offer the great advantage of being highly effective air purifiers. They absorb noxious chemicals like formaldehyde, xylene, benzene, and carbon monoxide, creating cleaner air for you to breathe. Typing fast is no longer optional; it's a must-have skill in the digital age. According to Microsoft, many managers expect employees to hit at least 50 WPM (words per minute). One glaring issue with the X35 is the active cooling fan. This has been a feature of all G-Sync Ultimate HDR monitors so far, to varying degrees of success. While the fan isn't very noticeable in the Asus PG35VQ, for some reason Acer has decided that pulsing the fan between a slow and fast speed is the best course of action. This means that from time to time, the fan will suddenly engage; in a quiet room, it sounds like a vacuum cleaner has just been turned on. They grow best in a lot of indirect light, but they’re very flexible when it comes to humidity. In fact, the Rubber Plant is able to thrive in a wide variety of environments, making it a safe choice to be an indoor office plant.

Another great thing about the Peace Lily is that it likes being root-bound, so repotting is only necessary every few years.
