About this deal

If you want to force the valve to the fully open or closed position, you can use the "force" menu from Normal to Open or Close, and after several seconds the valve will start to move to the new position. Battery Life Update 28th October 2021

The smart radiator by tado is as easy as it can get. You do not need to call in an expert for installing it. Unscrew the old valve and install the new right away. No elaborate tutorials or process that needs to be followed. This is the set up a lot of homes will have. You can manually set the thermostat temperature, and it will turn the boiler on and off to maintain the temperature of the room it's placed in. Zoned Heating: Whilst central smart thermostats control the entire home’s heating, with the use of smart radiator valves, you can set temperatures for individual rooms.Read → https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9259740 How radiator valves work with Nest thermostats You set the temperature in degrees celsius This is easier to use and more intuitive than the 0-5 scale on TRVs.

Also, I noticed that when the target temperature was reached, the valve didn't shut down, there are always a few degrees of overshoot. In addition to this, when the target temperature is lower than the actual temperature, the valves start opening before its temperature drops to the target. My solution for this is to have the set point a few degrees lower than the actual required temperature. Because it would be weird (especially explaining to my wife or guests) that they need to set the temperature to 18°C when they actually want 21°C. Therefor I do not use the temperature card as in the examples. I only play with the preset eco and comfort. A schedule is easy to set up in HA and with some buttons (also easy to set up) I can turn the heat on or off for my different TRV's (rooms).

Smart thermostatic radiator valves (Smart TRVs) are also compatible with Nest thermostats. When your Nest thermostat turns the hot water on or off, the water flows in compliance with the Smart TRVs’ settings. Basically I want something that does not blast open the valve, overshoots the temperature, then closes it and repeat it again. As thats gonna be noisy and not that comfortable. (I head it stated, that tado and some valves do this.) If you have manual valves, make sure the valves are open for each radiator so that the radiators get warm when your Nest thermostat heats. You can also close valves that are in rooms you don’t use very often, like spare bedrooms, so that your Nest thermostat doesn’t heat empty rooms. You can set the temperature of each room using the thermostatic radiator valves. However, as seen on the diagram, the valves can't communicate with the smart thermostat or your smartphone, so you will have to change them manually.
