Crenelated Bezel: No. On a light this small it doesn’t matter from a defensive standpoint; this light is not an effective impact weapon. Fenixlight Limited was formed in 2001 by a group of enthusiastic young engineers intent on improving upon the lighting products then available.

Knurling/Grip Texture: Yes, and it’s not bad! It’s actually serrations and they feel nice. Fenix also put some texture on the removable tail cap, a thoughtful addition. You can actually get enough grip to unscrew it.As you can see, they are the same as a NiMH battery, like the white Eneloop AA used above. Runtime: Tested in laboratory conditions to ANSI/PLATO FL1 standard using 1 x AA alkaline battery under the temperature of 21±3°C and humidity of 50% - 80%. Results may vary between torch, battery and environments. Receive a unit of Fenix E12 v2.0 from Fenixlight a few weeks ago (together with Fenix TK11 Tac and Fenix E28R) for testing. Even MID mode is enough to light up 5-7 meters with good detail in the open air. And the high with its 250 lumens gives enough light to shine through the surrounding bushes. Anti-Roll Flats: No, but the clip can arrest rolling, if need be. Category 5: Durability & Water Resistance Please take out the battery if the flashlight will not be used for a long time, or it may cause damage from electrolyte leakage or battery explosion. Still, it wouldn’t hurt anything to have this light turn on in High, and it wouldn’t have cost Fenix anything extra. I don’t understand that decision.

All output numbers are relative for my home-made Integrating Sphere. It is set up with an Extech SDL400 Lux Meter for measurements including a Kenko PRO1D ND-16 filter. The base measurement is done with a Convoy S2+ that was tested at 255 lumens.

I love that it starts on low with no mode memory. And again, no blinkies. Good spacing with the four modes. It has a white beam, with little tint shift and few artifacts. The beam is shown here alongside a triple XPL HI, 4000k, at as close to the same level as I could get to. Tail Switch: The tail switch isn’t terrible. It’s protected but still easily accessible. It feels a little mushy/spongy, but that’s not a huge deal. It doesn’t feel the best, but it works. The surface is nice, tactile rubber and it should be fairly durable. The light does not memorize the previously used output level, each time it is turned on, Low mode will be activated. Below is an interactive runtime graph of several AA flashlights I tested. These are measured with AA Eneloop batteries. Even though some of the lights work with 14500 batteries, the numbers are solely for Eneloops.When it comes to form-factor…well, that’s where the Fenix E12 V2.0 really shines. But it’s also this light’s biggest failure, so… Shown here alongside an Oveready BOSS 35 and a Fenix E01 V2. The E01 is not much smaller, and weighs just under an ounce. I’m not a huge fan of twisty interfaces, so I would almost always carry the E12 for the little bit of extra weight.
