If you use the wrist straps that come with the Quest 2, you should never get into a situation where your Quest controllers fly off and damage something. However, there are instances where intense gaming sessions cause grip problems that interrupt play. Since Quest 2 accessories are diverse, it's hard to provide blanket advice when shopping for one. However, accessories mostly fall into one of the categories below. Link cables are an important type of Quest 2 accessory since this is how you can use your Quest 2 as a PC VR headset. They're not created equal, however, and if you get the wrong one, your experience may suffer. Ironically, despite the fact that Quest 2 is smaller than its predecessor, the official Carrying Case is actually about 5cm longer than the Quest 1’s alternative. The kit stores everything the original did, including your headset, its controllers and space for the charging wire included in the box. However, instead of hiding the wire in a compartment under your controllers, this iteration has a separate space for it at one end of the storage area. Still, it’s the same width (around 21cm) and would still fit into most spaces you were storing your original Quest. First, you'll want to charge the headset and install the Meta Quest mobile app. When your account on the app is set up and the Quest 2 is charged, take the headset and put it on to adjust your view and the headset's fit. The Meta Quest 2 Carrying Case is the obvious choice for many Quest fans — and there are reasons behind its popularity. At first glance, it has a very smart and sleek design, with a gray felt finish and a capsule-like shape. The single zip also appears hidden under the lid, which gives the top a suspended appearance. There’s a single, soft loop handle on the outside and compartments within for the headset, controllers and cables. This case can fit the Elite Strap with Battery as well for added versatility. However, no accessories are included, which is a bit of a letdown. We immediately loved the feel of the inside of this case. The lining of the other cases felt fairly rough with a scratchy finish, whereas this truly feels soft, and you can hear the difference when you fit your Meta Quest 2. It’s pretty quiet as you slot the headset and controls into the indentations, and on top of feeling nice, the soft finish helps protect the device if it moves around. Because of the indentations, our Quest remained pretty secure, and the elastic strap kept the controllers in place. I also really like the visual design in this iteration, although Upload’s own David Jagneaux thinks it looks like a hairy egg. The outside of the device is covered in a fuzzy felt colored in a mixture of earthy grays. It gives the kit a sort of mythical tablet vibe which I’m pretty fond of. The zip, meanwhile, is embedded under the lid, which gives the top a nice seamless feel. That said the string attached to the zip is a little flimsy and could cause issues if it ever came off. Space For Everyone? The Quest 2 includes a glasses spacer and can accommodate most average-size spectacles. However, it's not always comfortable to wear glasses inside your Quest 2, and getting the focal length just right can be a pain. Yes! Yes, they are. The Oculus Quest 2 was renamed the Meta Quest 2 last year, when Facebook decided to rebrand as Meta. They are the same product in all but name. Can you connect the Meta Quest 2 to a PC? Upon first opening the Meta Quest 2 Carrying Case, we felt like the interior looked less premium than the outside. It’s not particularly soft, with the same material used to line it as the outside, although we did like the flexible rubber walls to separate the compartments. Fitting the headset was simple, even when using the Elite Strap with Battery; however it wasn’t obvious how the controls should sit and there are no straps to hold things in place. This means if the case goes through some turbulence, you can hear things rattling around a bit in there. The overall comfort of carrying the case could be improved as well — while the handle looks attractive, its loop style isn’t as comfortable to carry for long periods as a standard handle. The Sarlar Fashion Travel Protective Case is one of the best Meta Quest 2 cases because of the sheer amount of accessories it brings to the table. In addition to the anticipated lens protection pad, shoulder strap and velcro cable tie, you also get some colorful controller grips and a complete VR stand, so you can leave your Meta Quest 2 on display should you choose. One small aside for regions outside of the US; the box I got showed a US plug fitting into the cable storage area neatly, but my UK plug couldn’t be squeezed in. Chances are you’ll need to carry that separately if you’re outside the US.
