The bass hit harder and add more fun to an engaging mature enough sound signature. Winter is cleaner, crisper, and leaner sounding and will please those seeking near analytical neutrality. If you haven’t heard of Raptgo before….you’re not alone. Although the hard shell carrying case that comes with the Hook-X proudly states “since 2019,” the brand hasn’t exactly released any standout products. That is, until this particular IEM. The Hook-X’s bass is most elevated in the sub-bass region, but rather than confining the bass emphasis exclusively to the sub-bass, the Hook-X retains a moderate amount of mid-bass presence. This mid-bass presence rolls off gently into the lower midrange. The Hook-X is a dynamic-sounding and impactful IEM. Sub-bass extension is excellent. Bass texture and detail retrieval are about what I would expect for an IEM of this price.While the mids are full of detail with excellent spacing, they’re warm enough to be engaging too. The ultimate test for me is the connection I feel to the music and with Hook-X I’m consistently singing along and strapped in for the emotional rollercoaster ride. Listening to Dimash Kudaibergen’s “Sinful Passion”, the vocals are full of sentiment and the cello is textured but at the same time oozes with an enchanting richness. Connectors/Termination - In the case of In-Ears with detachable cables, it is helpful to understand the termination used. IEMs can offer connectivity via an MMCX (micro-miniature coaxial) connector or a 2-Pin connector. It’s slightly bright, without problematic peaks, harshness, or sibilance, so smoothly bright we can say where lushness meets brightness with appealing bass warmth basis. Hook-X has a U-shaped sound signature. It’s on the warmer side of neutral, making it (at least for me) more emotionally engaging than something brighter and more analytical. The Hook X has a sound that’s warm enough to be comforting but clear and detailed enough to be exciting at the same time. Raptgo Hook-X frequency response. Bass The Raptgo Hook-X has an unashamedly fun tuning. But thanks to its technical prowess, it has good resolution, a good soundstage, clarity and dynamics. It’s an IEM where the music comes first, in the form of its tonality and musical presentation.
