About this deal

The model is made from 1040 LEGO pieces and stands 46 cm tall. This model is significantly larger than the previous versions offered in the Architecture range, but not so big that it could not be an official set. Of the 1040 pieces 464 are the small 1x2 radiator grilles which make up the vertical line features on the exterior of the building. All of the LEGO Artists I spoke to were excited about this increased level of detail in an official LEGO Architecture set: I’ve always found that [this scale] tends to offer a great balance of complex building techniques as well as an exciting amount of detail.” —Rocco Buttliere If you like my design and would like tosee it made into an offical LEGO set then please ask your friends to support it too - perhaps even ask people you don't consider to be your friends and complete strangers via social media ;)

The finished model nails the overall shape of the building and is instantly recognizable as the Empire State Building. Even at its relatively small scale, it manages to capture many of the key details from the actual building.” —Deep Shen As it can sometimes be difficultto judge the overall size of a model I have included a image of my Empire State Building next to the latest LEGO version - from the New York City set (21028) and the Eiffel Tower (21019). (King Kong minifigurebeing buzzed by biplanes is just for fun.) I think this would make a great set which would appeal to fans of the Architecture range, fans of the buildingand anyone looking for a souvenir of New York City. Spencer’s quote in particular stood out to me. It perfectly captures the explosion in enthusiasm for the Architecture Series, and the shift from focusing on the high-level form of the building to capturing more and more of the details.Empire State Building Fact: The Empire State Building was the tallest building in New York City for 40 consecutive years, from 1931 until 1972. If I was shown this set box seventeen years ago when I was designing my own model, I would have dismissed the notion as an outright impossibility.” —Spencer Rezkalla Elevate your LEGO building skills to a higher level with this LEGO Architecture 21046 Empire State Building set. Located at the heart of New York City, the Empire State Building towers above the surrounding skyscrapers. Construction of the building began on March 17, 1930 and just one year and 45 days later, on May 1, 1931 it was opened for business. The height of the structure was increased in 1950 with the addition of the iconic antenna tower. At 21 (55cm), the tallest LEGO Architecture model to date (July 2019), this highly detailed, collectible replica accurately recreates the symmetrical lines of the buildings 4 curtain wall facades and art deco antenna tower. The tiled baseplate depicts Fifth Avenue and surrounding roads complete with yellow cabs, and the model is finished with a decorative nameplate. This 360-displayable model delivers an interesting and rewarding building experience and makes a truly iconic centerpiece for the home and office. It has been developed for all with an interest in travel, architectural culture, history and design.

I’ve mentioned several times how closely this set resembles the larger scale Architecture models frequently created by talented LEGO Artists. I reached out to a few of those artists for their first impressions of the set, even though they haven’t had a chance to build it yet…I can certainly appreciate the boldness of including so many of a single piece in this set.” —Rocco Buttliere Designedby William F. Lamb from the architectural firm Shreve, Lamb and Harmon, the art deco styling of the Empire State Building is as an icon of New York City.
