About this deal

Pas encore de profil de correction en Lightroom, mais vu la faible distorsion et vignettage ce n’est pas un problème Exclusively distributed in the UK and Ireland by Holdan, the new AF 135mm F1.8 FE is a fast-aperture prime telephoto lens, designed for use with full-frame Sony E Mount cameras, but also compatible with Sony APS-C mirrorless cameras. Both lenses do not have image stabilization which would have made them even larger and more expensive although we would kind of like to see a fast stabilized 135mm lens by this point (the Zeiss 135mm Batis is stabilized, but it is an f/2.8 lens). Sharpness The two lenses are almost identical in size at 13.5cm/5.3” and the Samyang feels a hair wider at just over 8.5cm/3.3” (the Sony is closer to 8cm). Rings I found that this lens is particularly hungry in term of battery. My battery has drained 50% faster than with other lenses. Samyang has solved this issue with a firmware upgrade in April 2022

Manchester, United Kingdom – Thursday 27th January, 2022, Holdan, a specialist distributor to the professional video, broadcast and photography sector, has today announced Samyang’s autofocus evolution of its popular 135mm prime lens. It is exclusively distributed by them in the UK and Ireland. The Bokeh balls are excellent wide open. Bokeh balls are no more circular as of F4 and exhibit the 11 blades Apart from the astrophotography that was not tested because of the weather, the lens was faultless in its operation. Suitable subjects are landscapes, architecture, portraiture, sports events, street and low light. The SteadyShot system built into Sony camera bodies effectively helps to keep images as crisp as possible. The SAMYANG 135mm F1.8 AF and the Sony FE 135mm F1.8 GM are ahead of the Sigma 135mm F/1.8 DG HSM Art / Samyang 135mm F2 AS UMC / Zeiss Batis 135mm F2.8 Add to this low distortion and CA, close focusing, superb flare control and hardly any vignetting and the result is a very well put together lens at a very attractive price. Some may find 135mm slightly long for some subjects, but the rest of this range also includes a 75mm, so there are other options if needed.

Both lenses seem to be pretty susceptible to direct front light and strong flare even with the hood so try to avoid this as much as possible (see video). Vignette Optical construction is 13 elements in 11 groups, including 3 ED (Extra Low Dispersion), 2 HR (High Refractive Index) and 1 U-Asph (Ultra-precision aspherical). Add 11 bladed diaphragm, weather sealing and a virtually silent Linear STM motor and we have a highly effective design. This completes a series of Samyang AF prime lenses, covering 24mm, 35mm, 45mm, 75mm and now 135mm. We tested both lenses shooting in a skateboard park with our A1 using electronic shutter at fast burst speeds and got about the same keeper rate from both lenses. With Samyang’s announcement of the new AF 135mm F1.8 FE, its Auto Focus F1.8 FE series now includes: 24mm, 35mm, 45mm, 75mm and 135mm focal lengths, completing the line-up, from wide-angle to telephoto. The AF 135mm F1.8 FE features 3 different customized buttons such as Focus Hold Button, Custom Switch, and Focus Range Limiter Switch to enhance usability. There is a custom switch, which can be set to allow adjustment of the aperture silently by rotating the focus ring. Using the optional Lens Station, you can set up the mode to suit your own preference. MPB puts photo and video kit into more hands, more sustainably. Every month, visual storytellers sell more than 20,000 cameras and lenses to MPB. Choose used and get affordable access to kit that doesn’t cost the earth. When you press the focus hold button briefly once, focus will return to the infinity position automatically and the color of the LED will change to green.

No Lightroom Lens profile yet but considering the low distortion and vignetting this is not an issueCustom Switch - There is a custom switch, which can be set to allow adjustment of the aperture silently by rotating the focus ring. Using the optional Lens Station, you can set up the mode to suit your own preference (more functions will be added through firmware updates in the future). I don´t use religion to prove a very personal and self-serving opinion. Nothing is "Certain". Has anyone ever seen a photographer with Below that is another fairly common switch, a s stage focus range limiter. It’s great for eliminating certain distances from your autofocus range, and for speeding things up a bit when shooting.

Both lenses have weather sealing (we don’t typically shoot in the rain so we can’t comment on how effective these are). Mount The rest only adds to the confusion of choice and sales pitches. My personal opinion today would be a Nikon Z9 for the Best FF regardless of price, the Canon R for Best for a low price, and the Sony A7RIV for Best for the price, overall. Slowly turn the zoom ring to the left (towards the wide-angle end) while using your upper body and arms to move the camera toward your subject. We used both lenses with our Sony A1 in different situations and here are a few sample images from both of them including a concert where we used the Sony 135mm from a distance of about 10-15m in very difficult lighting conditions (all images are unedited, besides cropping, unless otherwise mentioned). Although it is a 135mm telephoto lens, it has an extremely close focusing distance of 0.69 meters (about 2.26 feet) and a maximum magnification of 0.243x for close-up photography. The shots it achieves though, bloody hell they’re good. It’s definitely a lens I’ll be using more of in the future for stuff like this. I hear it called a “portrait lens” all the time. What does that even mean? It’s just a lens. A lens that shoots great portraits, yeah sure, but it’s just a lens. It’s a 135mm f1.8 and you can use it for all kinds of stuff, portraits, landscapes, or just filming yourself drink a coffee in the rain. Samyang Optics is releasing the MF 135mm, a representative telephoto lens that has been loved for its excellent resolution since its launch in 2015, as an AF lens to commemorate the 50th anniversary of its release. The best standpoint from which to appreciate the full view of a subject is the distance of the diagonal length of the subject frame. This wider angle is superior to standing closer at a 50 degree angle to get a more detailed view. While Sony's FE 135mm f/1.8 GM is an excellent lens, Samyang's new 135mm f/1.8 AF is effectively half the price – and that could represent great value for hobbyist shooters who can't justify pro-level price tags, particularly for a relatively specialist focal length. There is a custom switch, which can be set to allow adjustment of the aperture silently by rotating the focus ring. Using the optional Lens Station, you can set up the mode to suit your own preference*. (*More functions will be added through firmware updates in the future)
