Charlotte Lawrence’s vocals on Joke’s On You soar with emotion, her voice crystal clear in a pleasingly big and spacious soundfield. There’s ample power here too, giving a big power ballad plenty of welly when needed.

The AIO Twin can be used as part of a multi-room setup, using Linkplay technology, to allow enjoyment in several rooms around the home. For this review I contented myself with the speakers either side of my TV with an optical/SPDIF connection between the two. This proved most satisfactory. The AIO 3 is equipped with Bluetooth and WiFi technology enabling music streaming from phones, tablets and computers with connective ease. The stereo effect is clearer on Wi-Fi too, there’s a much better sense of scale and size to its sound, helped by the speaker’s Wi-Fi performance being louder than the Bluetooth from the get-go. It’s a sound that could easily fill a medium-sized room. Placing it against a wall can help beef up and load the low frequencies with more power too.

This comes across best when playing something like ‘Come Down’ by Anderson .Paak [ Malibu, Empire]; his voice is usually somewhat swamped by the rest of the mix (in particular that insistent hi-hat and funky bass line), but here it’s pushed to the fore, very articulate, and rhythmic. Granted, the midrange clarity does cut through the mix because the top and bottom end of the music are more recessed here, but it also cuts through the innate compression slapped on that album. Often at this level of equipment, you hear the lose-lose of a curtailed frequency response with a muted midrange. The Triangle system works from the midband out, which is always a good sign in any system. Finished in gorgeous Scandinavian fabrics from Gabriel and brushed aluminum pieces, the speaker AIO 3 will blend elegantly in a living room, a bedroom or even the kitchen.
