So far, we’ve talked a ton about design and installation. Those are important considerations. But even the best designed remap kit is going to fall flat if the buttons don’t work, or are tough to use. In that regard, we were very pleased with the RISE’s performance. On the other hand, if you’re already experienced with soldering, a full installation shouldn’t be too tough. It’s just three wires that need to get soldered into place on top of the ordinary connections. The ECU map the car came from the factory with will often not be everything the engine can do but will instead have a bit of headroom built in to allow for variable fuel quality or lax servicing. Regulations imposed on car manufacturers limit the performance of OEM intakes. A lot of the restrictions in the standard airboxes are due to the need to remove noise from the induction system, which often disrupts airflow.
