About this deal

Coveted by record collectors and crate diggers, it is a workhorse of a record player. Known for it’s durability it can even play records vertically or horizontally with a supplied clamp. It has a built in speaker and mono headphone outputs and can run on AC power or batteries. If you’d love to own a piece of history the Columbia GP3 is one of the coolest, truly retro record players still on the market. It plays at three different speeds depending on the records – 33, 45 and 78 RPM. Seems to be a trend with these suitcase vinyl players. It is Bluetooth-enabled, meaning you can pair it with any other Bluetooth device and stream music through the internal speakers on the suitcase. Additionally, you have an AUX input if you wanna go the old-fashioned route. There are several reasons that combine to make these types of turntables dangerous to your vinyl record collection. And if you do find a good suitcase record player, not only will it be super-convenient and look fantastic, it will sound great as well – in fact, for their low price, they can sound absolutely amazing, and really reveal the glory of that analog sound everybody raves about.

It sounds fantastic. It doesn’t matter the sort of music you like to listen to either, the Debut Carbon Evo laps it up. In our testing we noted that every circumstance delivers a detailed and revealing listen, able to focus on the minutiae even as it describes the complete picture completely convincingly. It has all the warmth and weight the vinyl format is famous for, but it doesn’t get bogged down – instead it simply motors along in the most natural way imaginable. The Numark PT01USB is a unique device. While we wouldn’t consider it one of the best portable record players, it almost exists in its own category of players. This needle is cone-shaped and hangs from a stretchy band of metal. The turntable needle is usually made out of a hard material, such as a diamond or sapphire. The built-in speaker quality on the Crosley suitcase vinyl player really impressed us. The dynamic full-range stereo speakers sound crisp and balanced. On some cheap units, the lower frequencies tend to get mushy, but the Executive does a great job here! This might be the best in the list for high-performing audio and specs, but it isn’t the prettiest or most elegant model. This turntable is designed to look like a turntable, albeit a nicely constructed and finished one. A hefty, smoothly finished chassis is topped by a tactile aluminium plinth.

OK, there are issues with its rotational consistency and the construction of its tonearm (and its controls), and it leads to sound that's too weedy to be deeply satisfying. Connecting to a separate amp (using the built-in phono stage, or to your own phono stage, usefully) doesn't really improve things enough either. Suitcase record players are bad at playing vinyl records that you care about. There is simply too high a risk that they could damage your records. You cannot rip/digitize records with the Victrola Journey suitcase record player. It does not feature a digital (USB) output that is needed to digitize records. Does the Victrola Suitcase Record Player have an RCA output?

Once setup is complete, though, the sound the Pro produces simply astonishes. If you've ever heard of vinyl described as "warm," this is definitely not that. When paired with a decent system, a high-quality turntable like the Pro-Ject should sound as good as, if not better, than the equivalent digital file. Through testing, I found the Debut Pro has a way of making even well-worn records sound hi-fi with plenty of high-end detail, an expressive midrange and surprisingly deep bass. If your music needs some pep -- if your records make you sleep rather than dance -- this player is a great way to energize your system. The downside to the Pro-Ject's enthusiastic presentation is that with the "wrong" record, the sound could become a little fatiguing. Realistically, you’re not going to be getting elite audiophile levels of sound from any of these portable turntables, so you may need to adjust your expectations slightly. Suitcase record players are super popular right now – so much so, in fact, that we might well wonder what’s so great about them. But if you’ve ever had one – either recently or, I guess, 50 years ago – you already know. But it is not the coolest or nicest looking unit on my list of best suitcase turntables, at least to many people, and if you do prefer the retro-cool look of the majority of them I would still look to Victrola for the best choice. From sound quality and portability to features and price, it can be hard to decide which model is right for you..

This is, also, partly down to price. If you have an older turntable but it's much more expensive and higher quality than a newer, cheaper model, you might prefer the older sound. You should also consider whether it's in need of some TLC. Older turntables might need repairing to sound as good as they once did. Also worth considering is this: do you want to rip your vinyl to your digital library? If so, look for a turntable with a USB output and reliable software to get the job done. All of these record players are portable, and in fact that is one of their greatest, most useful and most charming features, but the Jorlai takes that portability to a whole new level, allowing you to really play records on the go, any time and anywhere, regardless of whether there’s an AC plug nearby or not. While a turntable like the Pro-Ject Debut Pro could be considered a serious piece of hi-fi, suitcase models like the Crosley Cruiser Deluxe are essentially toys. That's OK, and as long as you treat them as such you shouldn't run into any problems. Maybe the only thing sweeter than a collection of vinyl records is having a nice, retro-cool suitcase record player to listen to them on. Not only cool, though, the best suitcase record players can also be ultra convenient, small and highly portable, and sound great! Victrola and Crosley all have their own distinct brand identities, even though they offer similar products in music production. If you opt for a fancy wireless record player, you might want to invest in a Bluetooth speaker, a wireless speaker, or connect it to your existing smart speaker.

The needle is set at one end of the tonearm which is located on the side of the turntable, parallel to the vinyl. The arm moves across the vinyl as the needle follows the grooves. Not only does the Revolution GO have the same superb sound quality of any Victrola product, and all of the high-tech features and functions of their Journey and other models, it has a rechargeable battery that gives an unprecedented 12 hours of record playing on a single charge. Unless you are really set on the specific styling of the majority of the suitcase record players on the market – that ultra-cool vintage suitcase look with a nice swivel carrying handle and a typically high quality fit and finish – I would have to say that the Victrola Revolution GO is the best suitcase record player I’ve ever used. They usually have a small speaker that you can carry with you, and they’re usually battery-powered so you don’t have to worry about connecting it to an external power source.Victrola is no visitor to record players. Bluetooth ability is included and allows you to stream iTunes wirelessly from a design up to 30 feet away. Ultimately I might say the Victrola players have slightly better sound – just slightly, though – but for the combination of rich analog sound and highly useful tech, this Digitnow suitcase record player is fantastic. From personal experience, they are pretty not good. I took a cruiser as a present, and it ran late later, less than an hour of play (slow enough to notice it), not to mention the random skipping issues and horrible sound.
