It's true that the Tab M10 Plus Gen 3 doesn't experience the rough performance deficits of the Tab P11 Plus at the time of testing it (with Android 11), but we assume that Lenovo has generally done a better job with the Android 12 port, and that these differences are therefore not present. Battery life on the Lenovo Tab M10 Plus 3rd Gen is relatively average. Playing a visually simple but modern title like Pokemon Cafe Remix for a solid hour will drain around 15% from it, with Netflix managing a similar feat. That means you’re looking at that popular 8-10 hours of consistent usage on a single charge. At only 400 nits, the screen isn’t going to replace your TV in terms of bright and punchy HDR content, but it’ll remain visible enough for casual outdoor content in the shade.

Lenovo deserves to be criticised for the software situation. The Tab M10 ships with the dated Android 11. According to Lenovo, there should already be an update to the slightly newer Android 12. But we weren't able to find it using our review unit. However, with a surprisingly premium design, clean software, and advanced features like stereo speakers, it promises more than meets the eye. You'll be hard pressed to find anything exceptional about the Lenovo Tab M10 2022 (Gen 3), but what you are getting is a solid, stylish tablet that runs well. Then there is also the issue of preinstalled software. For many years, Lenovo was pretty restrained and exemplary when it comes to bloatware. But this time around, the Tab M10 ships with numerous mobile games as well as quite a few third-party apps. On the one hand, this is annoying because the amount of storage is fairly modest for a device in this price range. On the other hand, you'll keep getting notifications pestering you to give this or that game a try.
Input devices and operation – No fingerprint sensor
It’s quite compact for a full-sized tablet (in the old sense of the word), with dimensions of just 241.5 x 149.4 x 8.3mm and a weight of 420g. Where things get a little tough for the Lenovo Tab M10 Plus 3rd Gen is the idea of it being used by students. I don’t have the optional pen accessory on hand to test, but with the general, unpredictable stuttering that should always be expected on a device this cheap, scribbling notes in a hurry won’t be without its headaches. The good news continues with a pair of stereo speakers tuned by Dolby Atmos. No, they’re not going to stand up to the sound output of any modern iPad, but remember that we’re talking about a budget tablet here. With an affordable price, expectations for the Lenovo Tab M10 HD should be suitably low. This is a full-sized tablet that’s out to appeal to the ‘my first tablet’ crowd of kids and tech neophytes.

Socionext isn’t exactly a big name in the chip space, but the company makes custom processors for clients, and the name of the SC1408J1 suggests it’s similar to the SC1408H product that Socionet offers for 8K TV devices. That’s not to say that such cameras can’t be good, more that they don’t really need to be. An 8 MP lens with a fixed focus is available at the front for users of the Tab M10 Plus Gen 3. However, beyond video calls, you shouldn't expect much from the front-facing camera located above the display, since selfies are quite soft, and the exposure doesn't work properly often - especially in portraits. Due to the relatively low resolution, the detail reproduction in pictures isn't one of the strengths of the inexpensive mid-range tablet.The Lenovo Tab M10 Plus 3rd Gen, right out of the box, looks strikingly similar to the Oppo Pad Air – a tablet that comes deviously close to its budget price point. Sadly, one downside of the large battery in this one is its slow charging time. That’s largely down to the paltry 10W plug included, which will take around four hours to fully charge the slab. That’s not horrendous, but it will struggle to juice a drained battery to a reliable capacity if you forget to plug it in the night before a road trip. I’ve already touched on this above, but the Lenovo Tab M10 Plus 3rd Gen comes with no such accessories. Besides the slow-charging 10W plug that you can replace with a 20W charger somewhere down the line, this one comes with very little in the box.

As such, the console provides some key specs about the previously unannounced tablet, including the fact that it will have a 1920 x 1200 pixel display, 4GB of RAM, and a Socionext SC1408J1 processor.
Cameras – Typical tablet quality
Put all this together, and it’s perhaps no surprise that this tablet’s performance is not good at all. We noticed numerous pauses throughout our time with the device, from waking it from sleep to opening and switching between apps. Everything just takes a beat (or several) too long. Through extensive experience, I can say with a certain degree of comfort that Lenovo’s budget slab is surprisingly strong when it comes to the core experience – web browsing. In brief, battery life is far from bad here, but rival budget tablets can stretch further between charges.
