About this deal

I recently reviewed Al Haramain's Amber Oud Tobacco. This 'Rouge' release couldn't be more different in terms of performance...

My god does this project. Like I said, one spray. It smelled up my entire room and was still present after a shower. This might even be stronger than MFK. I will always love MFK for creating BR540 but I can't afford/justify the price. Took a chance with this one and I am blown away. How to use it: Deep hits of saffron, cedar, and jasmine combined with an impressively long-lasting projection make this an excellent spritz for fall and winter months spent dining fireside or holding court in an après-ski lounge. Why it’s great: I get it. Not everyone is into cologne in its traditional form. Sometimes you just want to smell better than everyone else without having to do all that strenuous spritzing. Dramatization aside, roll-ons are convenient and often smell lovely, as is the case with Impression #333 from Quality Fragrance Oils. These guys specialize in alternatives, so take what they do with a grain of salt. Focus instead on this travel-friendly scent’s impressive longevity and amber, jasmine, saffron, and cedar notes. Sound familiar? It has the thing with BR540 that I think is what people dislike about it where you smell it up close and the antiseptic/bandaid smell is very prominent, from my limited knowledge I'm guessing that's the saffron and ambroxan but I really don't know. I love it because it's strangely alluring, many cannot stand it. But, your scent bubble is intoxicating and amazing. That juxtaposition is just so clutch.

It's almost like they rebottled BR540 extrait. I don't see Al Haramain talked about as much in terms of clone houses. L'Aventure didn't smell as synthetic as CDNIM and was a worthy Aventus clone. But this... This one takes the cake on clones for me. One spray on my hand yesterday and within seconds, antiseptic smell, burnt cotton candy, and ambroxan. Its so much ambroxan but not in a bad way. This is 95% the same. It is basically the same fragrance. You wouldn't be able to tell the difference in a blind test. I dare you to try ! Given the many people who report good performance all I can think is poor quality control in their manufacturing process... The presentation is very impressive like for the tobacco - fancy hinged box and nice bottle. With all that effort it's a shame that the fragrance doesn't live up to expectations. This not a release that Al Haramain can be proud of.Why it’s great: You already know Boy Smells for its impeccable and wide-ranging lineup of fragrances suitable for any occasion you can think of. So you shouldn’t be surprised that within its catalog lies a sneaky Baccarat Rouge 540 alternative—Flor de la Virgen. Saffron, jasmine, and musk are accounted for, of course. But so are citrusy notes of lemon rind, earthy ivy, and floral labdanum to help take things to the next level. Flaws but not dealbreakers: Traditionalists need not apply. Roll-ons aren’t for everyone, but this is a pleasant and versatile fragrance, especially considering its incredibly budget-friendly price.

Flaws but not dealbreakers: Mining the beautifully scented depths of Maison Francis Kurkdjian itself is about as close as you’re going to get to a luxury alternative to Baccarat Rouge 540, which means you’re going to be parting ways with more cash than you would with lesser alternatives. To pin down the best alternatives, you’ll need to look for similar top notes of saffron and jasmine, middle notes of amberwood and ambergris, and base notes of fir resin and cedar. It’s a delicate balance of musky notes combined with hits of wood, flower, and tobacco, and much of the original’s allure comes from its longevity and versatile profile that’s great for any occasion. Price As a fashion and grooming writer at FashionBeans, I compare, test, and research the products that make a gentleman a gentleman. If it can be worn, carried, or used in a way that elevates your look and feel, I’m into it.Top Notes: Amber | Middle Notes: Jasmine, Saffron | Base Notes: Fir Resin, Cedar | Size: 10 ml | Type: Roll-On | Season: Fall, Winter | Longevity: 9-10 hrs Why it’s great: The fragrance profile of Al Haramain’s Amber Oud Rouge is about as close as you’ll find in the world of Baccarat Rouge 540 alternatives. Spicy, leathery top notes of saffron are subtly offset by floral jasmine before rising to a crescendo with musky, woody base notes of ambergris and white cedar. Though scent is highly subjective and it’s a good idea to test drive several options, I’d highly recommend you make this fragrance your first pit stop. How to use it: Spritz this all-season fragrance on before heading to the office, catching a live show with a date, or grabbing dessert and a nightcap after a meandering dinner. In other words, it’ll serve you well and serve you anywhere. I can still smell this very faintly after an hour if press my nose right on the place where I sprayed... But you can tell there's a lot of ambroxan and a lot of people hate it. Or they can't smell it so they think this is light. It's not light, at all.
