I’ve been fine-tuning my favourite campfire recipes on the wonderful Frontier stove from Anevay– this portable wood-fired beauty means you can cook up one-pot wonders anywhere you roam. Smoke emitting from the stove can be caused by a number of reasons; most often it’s because the flue has become clogged up. If you think this is the case, wait until the stove has cooled and pull the flue sections apart. If it looks like there’s a lot of buildup, clear it out with a wire brush or metal rod. From the moment we received the Frontier Stove for review a decade ago, we have been able to highly recommend it. It is devices like this which extend our short season of sitting comfortably outside. We use it on cool afternoons and evenings to keep the chill away while sitting outside cooking and relaxing. This is one product which we have reviewed, then held on to for team use at festivals, events – and our holidays and BBQs. The Traveller Stove is great for camping trips where you’re setting up a base camp – it is quite heavy (29kg) so best suited for car or campervan camping. Catch Tray: The Frontier is equipped with a catch tray to help keeps coals and ash in the stove and off the floor. The catch tray is removeable for easy cleaning. The Frontier Stove is eight times more efficient than an open fire, and a safe way to cook outdoors without burning the ground.If you are placing your stove in a tent, shed, yurt or other structure you will need enough flue sections to exit where you have placed the flashing kit. If you measure from the top of the body of the stove to where you have placed your flashing kit this will tell you how much flue sections you will need. You will need enough to cover this measurement and another 60cm of protrusion out of the roof / ceiling on top of that. Spark Arrestor: CanvasCamp includes a spark arrestor with every Frontier Stove. The spark arrestor is the top most section of flue with a covered top and small holes running around it to allow smoke to escape while preventing larger prices of burning ash and coals from flying out of the flue pipe and damaging your tent or sparking a fire. The spark arrestor needs to be cleaned regularly to prevent residue from building up and restricting airflow. Certain types of wood create more creosote than others, so this is a safety feature that needs to be inspected frequently. The Spark arrestor has three attachment points for guy lines that add stability to your stove set up. x flue sections that store inside the stove body for transport, and including base section with rotating baffle. Each flue section is 60mm diameter x 450mm long. Heat a cast iron skillet or griddle over the fire. Flue Damper: The flue pipe section closest to the firebox has an integrated damper to adjust the air flow exiting the stove. Close the damper for a slower burn, open it to turn up the heat for a faster burn or to get your fire started. The Fintan Stove is a multi-fuel stove, so you can burn timber, coal, anthracite or compressed wood logs. If you’re using coal, use the bottom drawer and the bottom air vent to allow airflow from underneath the coal. Make sure you are not overloading the stove with fuel; if there is not enough airflow in the firebox the fuel will not be able to burn efficiently and cleanly, and this can lead to smoke building up in the chamber which will billow out when you open the door. Its a firm favourite with our friends when we take it out in the evening while camping. Its perfect to sit around and stay warm while the smoke blows out of the chimney way over your head! No smelling of smoke or smoke in your face! Put your kettle on the stove for a continuous pot of hot water. Highly recommended! You can use a kettle on the stoves, but using the water heater means that more of the top plate is free for your other pots and pans. If you're using the tipi's pre-fitted stovepipe port, you'll be placing the stove in the centre of the tent. If you're fitting the flue out through the tipi wall fabric, choose a spot that's not too close to the door (so no one accidentally trips over it as they come in) and not too close to any combustible materials like bedding or bags.Highly recommended product and great all-round, the Frontier Stove is a great wood burner for space-heating and camp cooking.
