About this deal

The Dometic Gale Pump is a 12 volt electric pump that has been designed specifically for the purpose of inflating the Kampa / Dometic range of awnings, motorhome awnings and tents that use their airframe / airpole technology BUT CAN BE USED WITH OTHER BRANDS of awnings, tents and even items like airbeds, inflatable boats etc. I have a Kampa fiesta pro and find it doesn't take as long to blow it up manually than using a 12v pump and the kampa pump will not over inflate the tubes. There are probably better 12v pumps out there than i used but the i couldn't justify the cost. I use an electric pump, the Kampa yellow one, to blow up our air ace 400, takes less than 2 minutes.

Anyone waiting for the new Kampa Gale air pump, they are finally in the shops. Apparently the delay was due to being held up by the customs. I've just had the call from my dealer to go and collect mine. The pump unit has a clear, digital display along with an adjustable pressure setting. It comes complete with handy adaptors for items like airbeds as well as tents and awnings. Yeah, I was really impressed at the way the pump performed, even after my tinkering with the fitting.

The screw adapter for the inflation point is genius & inflates my Ace Air 400 in 5 mins max, would highly recommend

I think the fact that Kampa discontinued the Breeze and replaced it with a totally different one tells you they accepted the poor performance of the Breeze. I would very much doubt they would have replaced it with the Gale until they were satisfied the Gale was a much better piece of kit. Ref the screw adaptor at the inflation end of the hose ~~~ sure it is a brilliant concept but a better system would be to have the same union at the pump-end (two floating unions). I use a 12v pump for mine. It takes 6 minutes to fully inflate a 3.9m awning. I also have the hand pump (just in case) but have never used it. It's less effort than the handpump, but not as fast. It does get it to a higher pressure than I can normally do manually and, having an auto cutout guage fitted, is better in that respect. The Dometic Gale Pump is a 12v air pump designed for use with the range of Kampa & Dometic tents and caravan awnings. I have one of these and it sits in the bag with the cables, so no faffing about with cables etc. It does circa 4 inflations before it needs charging again and works a treat. Also useful on holiday for pumping up kids inflatables rather than busting your lungs on those! Had mine 2yrs now and works a treat Do your research fully before buying any awning. There have been more than a few reports on here about Kampa’s tendency to leak, especially around the zip area. (I had one that tended to “seep” through the roof. It wasn’t condensation,)

how many times a day are we inflating these awnings? I am a relatively fit 64 year old and I inflate ours just once at the start of a trip and have never felt the need to electrify the process. Perhaps I misunderstood your post, but my Gale connecting tube screws on at the pump and simply pushes in at the tent end. ??? The pump will inflate up to a max of 12.5psi and comes with a 1.5m inflation hose as well as a long 12v supply cord with cigarette lighter plug and is approx 15 feet long (5m). I have a gale pump, works as it should . Word of warning . . it’s not desinged to work with the original air awning as it doesn’t screw to the valve properly. We have the Vango Varkala and I can inflate it in less time than it would take me to get an electric pump out of the boot and plug the thing in. For me they are in the same category as electric leg winders and screw in pegs. Then after 8 years of sterling service ( including 6 weeks seasonal stretches) the Kampa went Pop. Replaced it with a Vango only because we could get a Vango in a size that didn’t cross a window. No issues with the Vango but the Kampa Gale pump won’t fit it and can’t find any adaptors.

Just tried the pump in the car (not inflating the awning) and the sound wasn't bad . . no shreeking, just sound like a normal car tyre pump Very prompt delivery and dispatch. Thanks. Haven’t tried it on the awning yet but it seems to work ok. However, my car tyre pump is also noisy, and I never heard a Breeze in operation, so the "noise" it makes is probably normal for this type f compressor.

The pump has a max psi of 12. 5, I managed to get my awning up to 9psi, it was running for about 10mins to reach that. Just wondering if any "more mature" caravanners here use an electric pump or manage with a manual pump. We had used pump before but this had taken an age to blow our Kampa Air Tent. I used this on my own for the first time and within moments the beams were starting to stand and in under 8mins this tent was up and solid. best pump ever Penrose Touring will only be dispatch awnings to the main island of the UK - this excludes delivery to places that are not on the main island and typically, though not exclusively require travelling over water / sea. Examples of excluded places are Used the gale pump today, it isn't quite but not overly loud. It was running for a 2 or 3 minutes and nothing seemed to be happening. The only indication that air was going in was the psi meter was going up. A few minutes latter and the awning was erect.
