About this deal

This 1.5x crop in particular limits the Nikon’s appeal for filmmakers. Technically it does shoot 4K, but you would probably choose any one of a dozen modern mirrorless cameras in preference to this one for 4K video. If I had a few thousand dollars to invest in a kit for sports or wildlife photography, I wouldn’t go with one of the newest mirrorless cameras. Instead, I’d buy a Nikon D500, an older generation 70-200mm f/2.8, and an F-mount supertelephoto. NIKON D500 + Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 @ 200mm, ISO 1250, 1/5000, f/5.6 Nikon D500 Review: Camera Size Comparisons

I am struggling to get 500 shots per charge on a single battery - I should be getting about 1,200 according to Nikon's documentation? Doesn't matter if I put the older or newer battery in the grip, still getting poor results and also poor results when used in the body too (without the grip).Note that Nikon's own AC adapter/battery adapter solution output 9V with a 4.5 A rating. 7V will typically be too low voltage to work as there is some voltage drop during mirror movement. The connection between the camera and phone is always active, even when the camera’s power switch is set to off. But contrary to the idea of using Bluetooth, this can result in considerable battery drain on the camera even when it is switched off. This can be fixed by switching the camera to its airplane mode, if you can find it in the menu and remember to turn it on. But then the two devices can often fail to re-establish the connection when you need it. Nikon D500 review – Build and handling I`ve read that on occasions the third party grip can malfunction/glitch although apparently the regular Nikon grip can and does malfunction/glitch just as much .. What this actually means in real terms I am not exactly sure.... These are all high-speed Nikon DX cameras meant for sports and wildlife photographers. You can see that Nikon steadily improved the resolution, frame rate, and focus system of these cameras as time went by. The D100 through D300s are outdated cameras from 2009 and earlier, and we don’t recommend them any more. Nikon D500 + 500PF @ 500mm, ISO 450, 1/4000, f/5.6 My camera was sent off on September 11th and I got a message from Wex on the 25th informing me that Nikon hadn't been able to replicate the issues with the batteries that they were using and had asked for my batteries to be sent in for testing. When I originally took the camera in I also took my grip and batteries but Wex didn't send those off - they just sent the body. I'd recommend that if you get the camera serviced by Nikon you also send them your batteries. Nikon should have my batteries now so it'll be interesting to see what they say, but I've heard that other people have sent their cameras in, Nikon announce 'nothing is wrong', yet when the customer received their camera whatever the issue was with it had been magically resolved. Seems that Nikon doesn't like to admit when things go wrong, but they do do something to fix the issue.

The brand new 18.5Wh(2 cells) replacement Nikon D500 Li-ion battery is made with superior quality cells from Samsung, Panasonic and LG to ensure the best performance. Nikon D500 battery case is made of non-flammable and durable plastic, which is fire-retarded and non-perishable when dropped from low heights. However, it is all dependent on your budget and use of the grip, I have the following D7000 3rd Party Grip (Newer) Far to sloppy on my D7000 It feels fine when it is tightened onto the camera but it needs to be tightened up on a regular basis, a total waste of time, if you were out for a full day, feels cheap, buttons are not good a very loose feel to them and not a very tactile feel then moved to the meika a little better mainly because of the metal parts but still not that good button wise buttons got a bit of a sloppy feel to them after a couple of thousand presses. Shutter speeds are available from 1/8000th second to 30 seconds. There’s a Bulb setting for extra long exposures. The camera has a sync speed of 1/250th second and several self-timer modes. The latter include 2, 5, 10, 20 second durations with 1 to 9 exposures at various intervals. The Nikon D7500 is a very good allrounder with fast autofocusing, excellent noise control in low light and an intuitive control system that makes good use of the touchscreen. However, its aimed squarely at enthusiast whereas the D500 is aimed at professional photographers and advanced amateurs and it has a higher-level AF system and a more robust build.Stepping outside the world of Nikon, one close competitor to the D500 is the 7D Mark II from Canon. However, the D500 has the advantage of being released about 15 months after the 7D Mark II, so it’s undeniably the more advanced camera. That has been my general experience with 3rd party off-the-shelf solutions too - at least in the one case where I bought a Chinese AC mains adapter for a Canon DSLR. I could not confirm it, but my suspicion was that it did not provide enough volts. That was certainly the biggest issue when I worked with someone else to build a custom DC-DC converter to power earlier Canon DSLRs (20D/30D/5D) - it was a balancing act to get the voltage high enough, while ensuring it was not so high as to potentially damage the camera. If you’re planning to use either camera alongside another Nikon DSLR, it’s with considering the control arrangement as you’re like to be able to sip between the cameras more seamlessly if they have a similar layout. How we test cameras The D500 takes its place at the top of the Nikon APS-C (“crop sensor”) format camera body lineup as a true flagship model and as the undisputed, long-dreamed-of replacement for the D300S. There is no question that the D500 is meant to be viewed as, and perform as, a mini-D5. Consider the naming of the two, the simultaneous announcements, the new auto-focus system common to both, the use of XQD memory cards in both cameras, and even the identical resolution 21MP sensors, among many other commonalities. Quite frankly, on paper, the D500 looks like a dream. And clearly, I’m not the only one thinking that – the camera was sold out for a while after it was released. If you’re encountering the Nikon D500 for the first time, what you need to know is that it’s a high-speed, advanced-tier camera mainly intended for sports and wildlife photographers.
