About this deal

Stir everything together very well without ice, then add ice into the pitcher if serving immediately. Mix 350ml vodka with 100ml pear liqueur, 100ml 2:1 sugar syrup, 20ml pastis and 285ml fresh lemon juice in a jug and chill for up to 24 hours. Ideal with tonic, and would also go very nicely with sparkling peach water, or those fancy Italian canned fruit sodas. Combine 200ml aged rum (I use Havana Añejo Especial), with 40ml Merlet Fraise (or other strawberry liqueur), 1,200ml pineapple juice, 80ml lemon juice, 40ml ginger cordial, and a dash of absinthe in a jug, with ice. It’s a beautiful gin with the region at its heart in its aroma and flavour, but also in how it’s best enjoyed – around the table with friends.

If you don’t have time to infuse the mezcal, you can also use a hot sauce – stir in half a teaspoon per cocktail (so 4 tsp total).

Drinks giant Diageo has just announced the launch of Villa Ascenti, a new Italian gin with an intriguing signature botanical.

To make the gin, Moscato grapes are harvested in August and September, and are then distilled three times. Rosa Classico: Combine 25ml Villa Ascenti Rosa, 100ml prosecco, 25ml soda and a dash of sugar syrup then garnish with a thin fresh peach slice or lemon zest. Muddle a handful of blackberries and lemon wedges in the pitcher jug, then add ice and pour over the gin. According to data from Nielsen MAT to 23 February 2019, as quoted by Diageo, the super-premium and ultra-premium gin sectors grew 38.Hugged by the Mediterranean Sea and blessed with sunshine, Italy has developed a unique position as the home of bitters, apéritifs and vermouths designed to be enjoyed with it's equally rich cuisine. This drink goes well with Thai cuisine – anything that has an aromatic spice to it, as it will be balanced out nicely against the sweetness of the pineapple. Recently, they’ve spent lot of money building a new distillery and they’ve refurbished their 1970s Frilli copper pot still. We distil our gin using only the finest Italian ingredients to create a liquid of the highest quality and flavour,” said Rosso. Villa Ascenti Rosa is a prime example of this – it is a beautiful Italian gin, capturing the essences of its homeland distilled with ripe peaches grown in the hills of Piemonte, Italy.
