Once the water butt is full, the diverter automatically shuts off the flow of water to the water butt and redirects it down the downpipe to the drain ensuring the water butt doesn't overflow. The Terracottage water butt can be connected to the downpipe either from the right or left side using a diverter or combined diverter/filter or directly in from the top (overfow required).

The filter can be used on these downpipes, when using these sizes a male female reducer will be needed for connection to the main outlet of the filter. The standard reducer available is 68mm female to 50mm, this can be used on either 40 or 50mm downpipe.
