About this deal

A blood bag drink can be extra spooky when you entertain guests at your Halloween party! This red Halloween Drink (non-alcoholic) is perfect for filling fake I.V. bags designed specifically for drinks. Learn where to find these bags plus tips for how to fill, clip and display the blood bags. I also share how to make the easiest edible fake blood splatters with just two ingredients. These blood bags make a great accessory to your vampire costume! Halloween is all about getting spooky! And what better way to achieve the ultimate Halloween bevvy for your monster bash than a frightening drink like this non alcoholic blood punch recipe? Blood Punch Recipe Halloween is our favorite time of year, and we have so much fun coming up with Halloween recipes for you like our Cynar Negroni or Key Lime Colada! This gorgeous punch will be perfect for spooky season while munching on candy corn at your next costume party! You can also blend colors to achieve a green color. Obviously yellow and blue make green, so the easiest way to achieve that is blue curacao and orange juice or pineapple juice. You can adjust the color of the green by changing the ratio of ingredients. Usually more orange or yellow than blue, as it’s the stronger color. Blood Bag Tip: Your blood bags drinks would look awesome hanging up on a hook like a real I.V. bag as an alternative to the clear caddy.

Lime Juice– a sour ingredient, as well as a tropical edge to this recipe. Remember, fresh squeezed juice is best! Tequila– we used tequila blanco, but you can use a Reposado or Anejo if that is what you have on hand. Other Fruit Juices– if you don’t have pineapple juice, you can try orange juice or apple cider. You can sub lemon juice for lime juice, too. Garnish– obviously if you are serving this spooky Halloween punch recipe in a blood bag glass you don’t need a garnish, it is the garnish. If you are serving out of a punch bowl, place some plastic vampire teeth at the top of the glass, or a fresh orange peel will take it to the next level. I placed my fake IV bags in a bowl with the tubing pointed up. It wasn’t very messy this way and I was able to clip them off easily. The bags didn’t tip over and I was able to wait to clip them until all my bags were filled.Cool, right? This may have been done before by someone else but I refuse to look that up to find out. I am proud of myself for coming up with the idea and I’d rather live in a bubble where I’m the first one. Blood Bag Tip: I recommend moving the clip down a bit from what is shown above so that it is easy to take a drink without hitting the clip.

Making this blood Halloween punch is very easy! I used a combination of cranberry juice, pineapple juice and lemon lime soda. But you could use any dark red juice such as pomegranate, cherry or fruit punch. Ginger ale would also be a good substituent for the lemon lime soda. I made this a non-alcoholic drink recipe because I wanted it to be kid friendly but you could add vodka if this is for an adults only celebration. This isn’t drinkable blood. It is simply a red punch that works well as a fake blood drink. When you make this Halloween drink there will be some foam at the top from pouring and the soda. I tried just using juice and this still occurred. The process of filling the blood bags with the syringe will add lots of air into your fake IV bag anyway, so they can’t be avoided by opting for non carbonated drinks. (You might be able to if you added the punch super slowly with the syringe but that would be very time consuming.) Blood punch is one of the least expensive punch drinks you can make. And, get the kids involved! This Halloween blood drink is a delicious recipe that is sweet, simple and alcohol free! Typically blood punch is a simple punch made with fruit juice and water or fruit juice and ginger ale or soda. This delicious drink is 100% safe for work and school! You might have a few questions before committing to this idea- How do you fill fake blood bags with drinks? Included with my blood bags was a syringe with a very narrow opening that holds 50 millimeters of liquid. That works out to be just under 3 ounces of punch so you’ll need to repeat this process several times to fill up a single blood bag. I found that around 5 times to be just about right so they weren’t overfilled.Carbonation– we don’t advise putting any carbonated liquids into the blood bags. If you are serving in a punch bowl, you can add some carbonation like ginger ale, tonic water, orange seltzer, or lemon lime soda to this adult beverage to make it effervescent. Midori– Midori is a sweet melon liqueur that is flavored with Japanese muskmelons. It has a sweet and earthy melon flavor, plus is bright green. The gruesome blood bags are so much fun for a spooky season party. They are the perfect scary themed drinks. With the tea base, we added pineapple juice, which actually changed the color slightly, but tasted great together. From there, we started going the margarita route with silver tequila, lime juice and triple sec. (Try a Halloween Margarita) It no longer became a margarita because we then added in a little coconut rum. Because of the passion fruit tea it definitely felt tropical, so we wanted to lean into those flavors in these red alcoholic drinks.

Leave to cool, then chill for afew hoursor up to 2 days – the longer you leave it the more intense the flavors. Simmer for 5 mins, then turn off the heat. You may want to strain the punch through a fine sieve if the spice residue bothers you. Simple Syrup– an optional ingredient, but depending on how sweet your pineapple and lime juices are, you may want to add a dash of homemade simple syrup to the recipe. Red Food Coloring (totally optional), but if you want a darker blood color, then add a few drops of red food coloring for effect!

Step-by-Step Instructions

Sometimes people even mix those two with some cranberry juice, which is what I would recommend doing if you want to fill your blood bags nice and full! So really, this drink is a Red Russian, made with just two ingredients: vodka and cherry liqueur. If you’re not a big cherry fan, you can also use strawberry schnapps. Coconut Rum– gives some tropical flavor to the drink, and we loved it with the pineapple, lime and passion fruit flavors.

Red chili, left whole but pierced a few times. Skip this ingredient if you want your drink less spicy. To display my Halloween blood bags, I added ice to my blood splattered clear caddy and propped them up. You could also add in filled syringes for other drink alternatives like my healthy blood shot drink for kids or blood jello shots for adults. (I also use fake syringes for this green punch which would be cool for Halloween.) The syringes could also be used in other ways, such as oozing blood slime. Our first thought was to use Hibiscus tea, but I couldn’t find any at the store, so I bought passion fruit tea instead. This was actually a great choice, as it went really well with the Crystal Light Raspberry Lemonade mix. It was tangy and we knew we could add some sweet flavors to make some perfect Halloween punch recipes. If you’ve tried thisrecipe, please let me know how you liked it in the comments below and leave a review. I love hearing from you! Other flavors– you could sub the vodka for some rum, you could even add fresh lemon juice or lime juice. If it isn’t sweet enough, you can add some simple syrup, but all ideas will make for a happy Halloween! If you want something easy and non-alcoholic for the kiddos, try my Goosebumps Punch recipe!
