About this deal

A touch of vanilla and toffee gives this malt a sweet base and the big maritime saltiness is very obvious here as well. Regardless of whether the Service offers the functionality to contribute, you are solely responsible and liable for any content and information that you create, upload, post, publish, link to, duplicate, transmit, record, display or otherwise make available on the Service or to other Members, such as chat messages, text messages, videos, audio, audio recordings, music, pictures, photographs, text and any other information or materials, whether publicly posted or privately transmitted (“Contributions”). As a side note, my Islay slot is currently occupied by Port Charlotte 10yr, which I absolutely love. The 43% ABV is not lightweight by any means, but it does provide a gentler introduction to the whisky’s rich, complex flavour profile. Their Islay roots ensured a robust, lingering finish, with the smoke and spice notes staying on for an encore.

To celebrate their 200 th anniversary, Lagavulin didn’t just release a super-premium, unobtainable, uber-expensive commemorative expression exclusively for deep-pocketed connoisseurs (although they did do that). The distillery ran a two day working week until the 1980s, which has resulted in some problems meeting the high demand for their whisky over the years. If you terminate your account, you will no longer have access to the Service and your Contributions (specified below), if any. The Flames of the Phoenix' is an appropriate theme for the 2022 Special Release bottling of Lagavulin, as it was designed to be the most phenolic Lagavulin yet. It’s Not as rich as older whisky, but good and different, and it’s interesting to see a distillery showcasing it so prominently.Perhaps it’s no surprise that some sites have had to wait longer than others for their injection of TLC. Finish seems to drop off a little fast but at the very last minute there’s a resurgent waft of smoke.

John Johnston founded the Lagavulin distillery in 1816, though there had been as many as ten illicit distilleries in the area since 1742.

Despite its lighter smokiness, it allows the sweeter and fruitier undertones to be appreciated, presenting an enjoyable balance. Both Lagavulin 8 and 16 have their unique offerings, a testament to the finesse of the esteemed Lagavulin distillery.
